[Updated] Reader Discussion: Where Is The New Xbox 360 That Microsoft Announced?
Update: I've found an official product page for the new Xbox 360, which says that it "will continue to roll out across all Xbox regions over the coming months." You can apparently purchase the console here, but details are "coming soon." The differences between the old 360 and the new 360 are still unclear.
Original Story: At its E3 press conference on Monday, Microsoft surprised its audience by revealing a redesigned version of the Xbox 360 console. Yusuf Mehdi, a senior vice president at Microsoft, gave the news on stage before Xbox One talk even started, and announced that the new console is "available today." He even showed us photos of the new design.
So where is this new Xbox 360?
A quick visit to the official Xbox website shows this redesigned 360 on display, sure enough. When I click “Buy Now at the Microsoft Store,” however, my browser takes me to an image of the old Xbox 360 design.
Target and Walmart, two behemoth retailers of video games, also show the old Xbox 360 design in their online stores.

I even called four local video game retailers in the Minneapolis area. Only one of them had ever heard of a new Xbox 360. They had heard about it, but they didn’t have it.
Considering the fact that Microsoft has promised to care about the Xbox 360 for at least 5 more years, it’s surprising to me that the company would announce the availability of a redesigned model without showing us how to get it. What does this mean? Will they really continue to give attention to current-gen gamers, or is it next-gen or bust?
I can’t find anything on Google about how to purchase the new Xbox 360. Can you? Is it even worth caring about?
