The lights are on
This week started off as an uphill battle for Microsoft, which has frustrated a segment of the core market with its statements on used games and online connectivity. The situation only got more challenging when Sony dropped three consecutive bombs: no used game restrictions, no online connection requirements, and a price $100 (20 percent lower) than the Xbox One.Yesterday, in a conversation with Geoff Keighly on Game Trailers, Microsoft president of interactive entertainment Don Mattrick had this to say when confronted with a question about online connectivity in challenging locales.
When posed the question of people who simply can't connect to the internet due to location or quality of service, Mattrick advises that those consumers simply buy an Xbox 360.
We reached out to Microsoft earlier this morning and are still awaiting their comment on the matter.
Or they'll just buy a PS4. That's a huge FU to fans of the previous console. "It's not our fault you can't get online, sorry maybe the Xbox One is too much for you, maybe you'd do better with something more simple like an Xbox 360."
I don't know about him but Comcast and cable internet is still rather flaky around my parts and I'm just outside of Chicago (IL not WI), and it can be down for a day or two in extreme cases. Or you go over your data cap and can't play anything until you log on to your desktop and re-verify your account.
The Hell? I thought that you were suppose to ENCOURAGE people to buy the One, not push 'em away!
XBOX ONE: EPIC FAIL!
Nintendo Wii U? Looks better more and more, doesn't it?
PS4: The clear generation winner and they didn't even have to enter the stores.
Seriously; The idiots in charge of removing the "Start" button and making that Metro design must be the same brain trust that assumes everyone has quick allways-on internet and doesn't sell/trade/lend games. Where do these jokers come from?
so if he says to buy a 360 why make a new system?
I really don't mind 24/7 checks on paper but what if I lost my internet router due to problem or I would have to cut the internet due to not enough money. Games matter but MS thinks everyone always will have access to the web. Did they learn anything with past companies quickly backing away from DRM.
Used games is not a major issue one way they could of solved this if you sell your game you must go online and deactivate the CD key that it came with said product. Used games must have a working CD key to be accepted. It would require internet access only when you purchase the game or sell it. Simple easy stupid.
This will make Xbox One case of being inviting to consumers much harder to justify and comments made by people who probably shouldn't comment doesn't help. MS should not be punishing those with not secure internet connection not being able to access they paid hard earned cash on.
So in the end. Same specs, $100 cheaper, both have great games, and both will charge for there servers PS4 is a easy choice. I get 1 1/2 games with it then. Halo will have to snooze for a couple years till the console and game price comes down.
Wow, Microsoft is really screwing up. I am a huge Microsoft fanboy, but in the past 24 hours I have gone from "Day one" to "I really don't know when I am getting one. My current plan is to get a PS4 (Since I currently don't have the PS3) and keep my 360. I really don't know if or when I will get the Xbox One. This is coming from a "realistic" Fanboy.
How in the heck do guys like this make it to a position without knowing jack about the gaming community and how it thinks? SERIOUSLY! In the XBone'(d)s press release all they talked about was how people could do TV with it and what it does with TV..... This guy is talking about a system all about games? THEN he tells people who cant get access to CABLE (50 - 100 bucks a month) internet to just stick with yester years xbox 360? WOW MS.... wow... i know a great place in the desert if your looking to hide a body. No one will ever know .....
"Gamers are smart"
Smart enough to know bs when they see it,
and that was 8 full minutes of typical corporate bs.
Cant compete with the value of a PS4 and PS+.
They also care about what us gamers want.
I already have a 360. I'll buy a PS4 instead.
I'm curious to know how these changes are for us, the gamers? 'Cause from where I'm standing, the benefits go mostly in the direction of the people who receive the extra money we have to pay to them... Anybody?
This guy knows what he's saying.. It makes perfect sense even though I'm getting both... More people are online then not.. Xbox one is going to rock
EA has just handed the baton of the Most Hated Company in America to Microsoft this week. And you know the funny part? They are the biggest supporter of MS. And probably the ones who drove MS to include these ridiculous restrictions.
LOL! What a bunch of tools...
Guess who's losing his job after E3!
to be honest, im gonna get both systems, though i will be getting the ps4 first and it will be my main console for this generation. ill have the X1 for exclusives and such.
For those who are serious about the mistake that the Microsoft gaming company is bout to make, go to http://www.xboxshun.com/ and a petition to boycott until restrictions are changed. Divided We Fall, United We Stand!!!
Xbox is done for due to greedy execs and businessmen. He said that it was built by gamers for gamers and it WASN'T. It was built by greedy execs and for mainstream media companies and Television consumers. And the corporate check-in every 24 hours or you don't get to play is a vile, horrible thing to do. Starts to make me think of the PRISM leak.
