The lights are on
This week started off as an uphill battle for Microsoft, which has frustrated a segment of the core market with its statements on used games and online connectivity. The situation only got more challenging when Sony dropped three consecutive bombs: no used game restrictions, no online connection requirements, and a price $100 (20 percent lower) than the Xbox One.Yesterday, in a conversation with Geoff Keighly on Game Trailers, Microsoft president of interactive entertainment Don Mattrick had this to say when confronted with a question about online connectivity in challenging locales.
When posed the question of people who simply can't connect to the internet due to location or quality of service, Mattrick advises that those consumers simply buy an Xbox 360.
We reached out to Microsoft earlier this morning and are still awaiting their comment on the matter.

I only see one problem with the check in. If my internet goes out because of storm for more than a day, how could I play games. This wouldn't even be a problem if it was 24 hours of gametime, not 24 hours no matter if your playing or not.
Everyone is complaining about always online, but its seriously not a big deal unless your pirating games ( and thanks a lot a holes because this whole mess with xbox was caused by you!) The PS4 does updates when the system is in stand bye mode (basically when you turn it off thats stand bye mode.) So technically the PS4 is always online too. I don't see anyone turning off there gaming console then unplugging the internet. The only difference is, they are not checking to see if you have any illegal games. Everyone doesn't like the way Xbox is presenting it because they are telling you what to do. Honestly its not going to be a big deal.
I don't know anyone who doesn't have internet, and Xbox is already planning on giving codes to service members who are deployed and don't have access to the internet.
Last, guess what people. Sony could do the same thing if they choose to because they have a patent that basically lets them do the same thing. Sony just might be waiting to see how MS sales are, and make a decision later on down the road.
So we should stay with a 360 if we don't have internet, instead of a PS4 for a hundred bucks less than the XB1?
Why did they fire that one guy if they're just going to say things that are similar to his? Sounds like he was a groundbreaking innovator for Microsoft, should have made him the CEO.
They need to have a board meeting with their PR department to get their stories straight. This is frustrating for the consumer as well. Come on Microsoft, we haven't lost hope...yet.
"Well that solves it" - nobody
Their ego is so big, that they still don't know they dug their own grave, and will be pushed into it soon. Playstation is king \m/
I give up trying to defend MS. There just getting ridiculous now.
People b*tch too much it is crazy...My xbox one pre-order is in!! I have internet all of the time, I don't buy used ***, they rip you off with prices on trade ins and used games anyway...and you can let a friend put the game on their hdd split the cost with a buddy...stop the *** whining!!
Way to go microsoft, you really know how to make your fans and customers go away and leave you
oh and for you dear Dan I have to say : We are neither buying an Xbox One nor an Xbox 360 we have another choice which is alot better and smarter and its called PS4 and you know what? the people who developed it considered their fans and listened to them and their method happens to be successful so you just might want to do the same thing Im sure you will not be disapointed
Unfortunately, I am a slave to exclusives. I will be buying both systems because I love halo and uncharted, etc. That being said, I have primarily been an xbox user since day 1. A game that comes out for both systems I buy for 360. That time is over. I feel bad for microsoft but they have been shooting themselves in the foot the whole week and it is painful to watch a company of their caliber make such fools of themselves. Their motives are clear and even though they will still get my business I hope they fail and learn a valuable lesson. Sony is wrecking them...
What an idiotic move.
Pathetic. This is why I'm gonna get a ps4, instead.
Microsoft is digging a deep hole for their grave.
That man just made my blood boil. Even though I have to 360s and they both work perfectly, I loved the gameplay and the things they offered. Before this I was highly excited but now by the way he was talking it was like a polite way of saying f you, your money, your privacy, and idgaf if we loose a good customer
