The lights are on
Microsoft announced that the Xbox One will be available this November and it will cost $499.99.
There will be a single SKU and it will cost €499 and £429 in other territories, and releases in the same month. We were unsure if Microsoft was planning to announce the price of its new console at E3, or if it was planning to withhold the information for a later date.
The Xbox 360 launched for $399.99 back in 2005.

$500 for the system is a steep price. I was honestly expecting it to be like $450. I wonder if Sony is gonna match the price or will it be cheaper.
That's a lot of dough
I'll wait and see what Sony does and then decide which one to preorder.
I predicted this for months: I said "$450 at the lowest, but more likely $500~$550."
For this and the PS4.
so i called gamestop, and its not available to pre order. am i missing something?
I see the price of $500 to be exactly what I expected. It is reasonable, but I am a PC gamer primarily and I spent $1500 on my PC, so $500 is nothing. I am going to buy all the upcoming consoles, but in a couple of years, since the exclusives right now are not that interesting and the multiplatform games I will be getting for PC like BF4.
That's more than I thought it would be but it's not by any means a horrible price point. The biggest problem is it gives Sony quite a lot of room to beat Microsoft in this area.
MAAAAN, that press conference was amazing and it's sort of depressing me because I don't want to have an always online console. I probably will get the XBOX one later, but only after all the new games release for it and I've played enough of my PS4.
I hope PS4 does not cost this much.
I figured this would be where they would price it. It's on the upper end of what I'm willing to pay, though I don't consider it too expensive.
Well, if it wasn't for the needlessly draconian online checks, I might actually consider buying it for that price. Unfortunately it's not worth Microsoft keeping constant track of my gaming.
too much. between that price and all the anti-consumer practices, I'm not getting an Xbox One.
thats reasonable not great but not bad if the ps4 comes in around the price some analysts have thrown out there i should have both by christmas then
Saw this coming 499 seems like the standard for these high tech devices. If the guys at sony were smart, they'd drop the price 100 dollars of the X1's price
$500 feels a bit harsh. We don't even know if that we be for a low end model or include some decent memory. I wasn't that impressed with their press conference. Good to see Halo and get rid of the Microsoft points.
Wow. $500 is actually a pretty good price for the console. This should give us a pretty good idea of the PS4's price. I still won't be buying the XBOX One because of it's cons, but it's good to hear this news.
