War At Sea In Battlefield 4 Campaign Presentation

by Tim Turi on Jun 10, 2013 at 08:04 AM

Electronic Arts took to the stage during Microsoft’s E3 2013 press conference to show off a new gameplay section from Battlefield 4's single-player campaign. The intense sequence involves a battle across a sinking aircraft carrier.

The player begins by boarding an aircraft carrier’s interior. A close quarters firefight breaks out which shatters radar screens and causes pipes to burst and spit out fire. The Battlefield series is known for its impressive visuals, and they’re in full force during this demo. Laser sights, red emergency lights, and fire all light the interior of the ship to realistic effect. Further along the hull breeches as a section of the ship begins to split apart. The carrier begins to sink as its torn wide open like the Titanic.

Soldiers march across the flaming wreckage of the aircraft carrier. More massive ships float in the distance. The sky is grey and oppressive. Planes begin to slide down the rent sections of the battleship, narrowly missing a group of soldiers. A rescue boat pulls in below and the player leaps into the water and takes control. Artillery strikes rain in from the sky as the player boats over the choppy waters. The presentation concludes as an explosion rocks the little boat.

Battlefield 4 hits Xbox One, PlayStation 4, 360, PS3, and PC this fall.
