The lights are on
During Konami’s Pre-E3 show this morning, Hideo Kojima revealed that Kiefer Sutherland of 24 fame will be voicing Snake in Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain.
Metal Gear Solid V takes place in 1984, meaning Snake is 49 at the time. Kojima wanted someone who’d be able to match the facial movements and vocal patterns of someone at a similar age, and he said 46-year-old Sutherland was “a perfect fit.”
He has a “fantastic, rich voice that maintains a level of mystery,” said Avi Arad, a friend of Kojima’s who recommended casting the actor.
“It’s an honor to be able to play this character,” Sutherland said. “This character has an unbelievable legacy. There’s a real personal quality to the character that I’ve connected to.”
“I’m not a gamer,” Sutherland continued, “and I even knew about this game.”
Kojima also discussed motion capture and the Fox Engine, saying it would allow for a new level of depth and interactivity in character performances. He hopes that Metal Gear Solid V and its “open-world” style of game design will go far in creating a “living, breathing” version of the iconic stealth hero.
Oh well, I will play it anyways-- and probably like it.
I really hope this is all just a mind-*** from Kojima.
Wow, that was unexpected. I don't hate the idea, but I'll have to see how it turns out before I cast any more judgement than that.
But yes, Hayter doing a cameo as Solid Snake would be a kick in the pants (whatever that means)
sweet! I love 24. and Kiefer. I'm sold.
Not really the biggest Metal Gear fan. Just haven't tried one out yet except for the very original with little play-time. However, Kiefer is an amazing talent. Good choice
