Metro: Last Light Outsells Metro 2033 In First Week

Developer 4A Games' home of Kiev, Ukraine is far removed the mega-development hubs of San Francisco, Los Angeles, and Austin, Texas. Kiev isn't in the hustle and bustle of London or the busy game nexuses across Canada.

Perhaps its remote location is why the ideas the studio infused into Metro: Last Light feel so fresh in comparison to a lot of what is being produced today. The gaming community has recognized the brilliance of what Deep Silver and 4A Games are offering, making Last Light a huge success

The title has sold more in its first week than THQ-published predecessor Metro 2033, released in 2010, has sold to-date at retail in the US.The title currently sits at a Metacritic score of over 80 across platforms, and has been selling fantastically in Europe.

This news comes only two weeks after publisher Deep Silver was criticized by former THQ president Jason Rubin for a number of things, including the promotion the game received. More content is coming for Last Light in the form of a single-player narrative expansion, a challenge mission, and not yet detailed creation tools.

The full press release is on page two.
