Razer's Two New Blade Laptops Offer Slim Design And High Power

by Mike Futter on May 30, 2013 at 11:00 AM

What's thinner than a dime? Razer's new Blade laptop, which is just one of the new models introduced today. Two new Blades will be joining the family, offering features that will appeal to gamers looking for top power and thin profile. Both come with new, lower price tags compared to previous entries in the Blade product line.

For those looking for a powerful gaming laptop without the bulk, the 14-inch Razer Blade might be a good place to start. It's thinner than a dime (standing up) and weighs just over four lbs. It's got 8 GB of 1600 MHz DDR3L RAM and an Nvidia GeForce GTX 765M with 2 GB of GDDR5 RAM. Here are the rest of the specs:

  • Future 4th gen Intel® Core™ processor (formerly codename ‘Haswell’)

  • NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 765M (2 GB GDDR5) & Intel HD4600

Pre-orders open on June 3 with a starting price of $1,799.

Razer also unveiled the new 17-inch Razer Blade Pro. Most of the components are similar to the 14-inch model, but the Pro offers the Switchblade UI with programmable macro keys (as seen in the video below).

The increased display size and slightly larger battery increase the weight to 6.5 lbs, which is still extremely light for a notebook of this size. The full stats for the Blade Pro follow.
