The lights are on
For many, Memorial Day is a signal that summer has arrived. That means breaking out the grill, lawnmower, and playing games when you aren't out enjoying the weather. Some things just go better at different times of year; certain movies, books, and food are best enjoyed during particular seasons. Does the same rule apply to games?
On some level, a great game is a great game no matter when you play it. But are certain times of year better for certain games? Is the winter best suited to the snow-covered peaks of Skyrim? Is summer the best time to take a vacation to Italy in Assassin's Creed II?

I've never really thought about it before, but now that I think about it I guess (for me anyway) I play open-world games a lot in the winter, in the spring I play RPG's mostly, Summer is for my backlog of games or if I don't have much of a backlog I play series of games (Mass Effect 1,2,3 Dead space Extraction,1,2,3 Assassins creed ect.) in the fall I will pretty much play anything.
For me, given the demands on my time, best time is whenever I have I time! Whether I can devote hours or 30 minutes to it! Ideally, given that I have a penchant for RPGs and the fact that I'm a completionist, I prefer full immersion into a game! I'm the type that will play all parts of a Trillogy back to back to back! Often go on a "video game weekends"!
No games for me just food. Lots and lots of food.
I don't think my taste in games changes depending on the season of nature, but more on the release windows of games. Right now I'm at a lull for "must buy" games, so I'm going back and playing some of the games I had to shelve or just replay through.
Summer for me is replay season before then end of the year blockbusters come out :-)
Game pictured above is Summer games by Epyx I believe. One of my all time favorite games my brother and I would play it endlessly
I like my batman in the dead of winter.
Winter is video game season. Period.
i play far too many games in the winter lol
I guess I don't really think about it too much. When I was a kid, summer and winter break were my "stay-at-home-and-play-games" time.
There are certain times of year that are interesting to play certain games in. For example, when I got Disgaea 3, it was October, so it was very appropriate to play a game about monsters and witches and the like during the "Halloween" month.
I would say winter but so many good games come out in the fall
Winter is the best time for new games to come out, as I go outside during the other seasons
Well for the time with the best releases...........Fall, October and November.
games tend to release around the holidays
Time of year definitely matters for games. During Summer I need a game that will last me a long time, because I'll be having lots of time to play during summer. For example, during school Monster Hunter wouldn't be something I would play, but it may be better suited for summer. At the beginning of the year I want to play happier games with a happy mood, closer to the end of the year I usually want to play darker and scarier games.
i guess i never really thought about it... that is most definitely food for thought...
