The lights are on
Microsoft just announced its new console, the Xbox One (head here to read all of our coverage!), and even though the new console is coming this year, Microsoft won't be leaving behind the Xbox 360 behind any time soon.
Yusuf Mehdi, a senior vice president at Microsoft, told OXM that the company expects another 25 million Xbox 360 consoles to be sold over the next five years. "That's something we're shooting for, it's not a financial plan as such, it's just rough numbers if you will," said Mehdi, "To sell another 25 million, half of those will probably come from replacements, but half will come from new buyers."
And because of those new owners, and continuous owners, Microsoft will continue to support the system. There are more announced Xbox 360 games on the way, as well as promise of new announcements coming during E3 next month.

Definitely a good move by Microsoft, especially since there are games coming out extremely close to the new console release date and there is no backwards compatability. I'm not ready to jump on the new system bandwagon just yet, I want to know more about the system in terms of the used game and online connection debacle.
That's a relief, I still need to buy a bigger hard drive to download EVERYTHING i've bought through out the years, it's good to know I have some time.
Great news at least!
that is good cause i dont think they are going to sell 25 million Xbone in that time...
I believe this is good decision because many people will not start off buying the xbox one from day. I also think the bad decision is that they are staying with it for five years, I would say 2-3 years would suffice. Overall it is a good choice for the microsoft company to make!
My question is what kind of games can we expect for it once the One comes out?
That's great because I wasn't planning on buying a new console until 2015-2016. This will give me enough time to concentrate on the current generation.
A little bit happier to see that microsoft is kind of still supporting it's loyal fans.
Good, Because I still kinda wanna get a 360 even though New Generations are about here.
Well that's good to know because I probably wasn't buying any next gen system until about 1 or 2 years from this holiday season lol.
Wasn't really expecting that...5 more years is a long time, especially since it has already been out for 8. This isn't the PS2 we're talking about here.
So are most games going to come out on both 360 ans 1? Thats a long time to be supporting an old system and if games will come out on 360 I really see no need for next gen yet
That's nice to hear. I still haven't changed my mind though. I won't buy the new Xbox.
