The lights are on
Microsoft just announced its new console, the Xbox One (head here to read all of our coverage!), and even though the new console is coming this year, Microsoft won't be leaving behind the Xbox 360 behind any time soon.
Yusuf Mehdi, a senior vice president at Microsoft, told OXM that the company expects another 25 million Xbox 360 consoles to be sold over the next five years. "That's something we're shooting for, it's not a financial plan as such, it's just rough numbers if you will," said Mehdi, "To sell another 25 million, half of those will probably come from replacements, but half will come from new buyers."
And because of those new owners, and continuous owners, Microsoft will continue to support the system. There are more announced Xbox 360 games on the way, as well as promise of new announcements coming during E3 next month.

Will see microsoft coming from a loyal 360 fan who will not be buying ur not console depending on how long it takes for next gen to catch on when it gets in almost every living room is when they'll abandon it jys like the original box
p.s. anyone else feel weird saying next gen feels like jus yesterday we were saying it about the 360 n ps3
Good for me. I'm still enjoying the 360. Great to see them still support this current gen console like how Sony did with the PS2.
I want to buy a replacement. So count mine Yusuf.
I'm not someone that's been overly pessimistic about the recent news, though I can understand why some are put off and thinking of the worst, but honestly? This news sucks to me. Just focus on news games on the new console.
All this does is give me more reason to hang onto my 360 until the new consoles are a few years old. If they keep on dishing out good games then I am happy.
Good because I'm not buying an Xbox One. I'm switching from Microsoft to Sony for the duration of the next generation.
Isn't Destiny supposed to be a 10 yr game? Isn't it also supposed to be multi-platform including the current gen? 1+1=2...Right?
This is a good idea by MS, especially with no backwards compatibility from next gen. I know I have enough games to catch up on with the 360, so I won't be packing it away anytime soon.
It would be a mistake to just abandon it like Nintendo did with the Wii.
I can now get Halo 5 possibly! and maybe
ive been readin so many comments bout xbox one bein awful
i just dont get it! xbox one is not a bad console just because its introduction was not so cool ....
its a good thing theyll keep on supportin xbox360 , im wonderin if games will be cross compatible or not ....
Microsoft's support FOR the 360 feels like they abandoned it long ago, unless you absolutely love the whopping four exclusive franchises they bring to the table (Halo, Gears, Forza and Fable).
At least megafans of Kinect Sports can probably look forward to Seasons 3 and 4 of that franchise :D
