The lights are on
Chillingo has announced that it will be publishing a new mobile title from DmC Devil May Cry studio Ninja Theory. Fightback will be coming to iOS and Android this summer.
We reported earlier this morning that Ninja Theory had trademarked the name "Fightback" earlier this month and that a related URL (fightbackgame.com) had also been scooped up. It turns out the title is a free-to-play action title that derives its aesthetic from the neon 80s. Ninja Theory's first mobile title will be on display for media at E3.
The full press release follows on page two.

well this beats my ultimate mortal kombat 3 app :p
Wow. Pretty high rolling.
I like free to play, and I enjoy a fighting game from time to time. I'll give this a shot when it comes out.
It seems like gaming is starting to go on a trend of neon 80's settings. This seems neat, though.
Pretty cool, especially being free to play. Excited to see more.
It's free-to-play? I'm sold.
I think Ninja Theory has had a pretty good run with consoles this generation and I don't see them tripping up on ios.
I hope this doesn't mean that they are out of the console business, I have enjoyed their stuff in the past and I hope this is just a small, one-off project that they are doing in between their console releases.
Disappointed. I expected the reveal of a new next-gen title.
While I love Ninja Theory, mobile gaming is largely pointless. While there are a few gems out there most of it by and large is just a cash grab so I'll probably pass.
Sort of disappointing. I mean, these guys are so good at big budget productions for consoles. That being said, it's good for developers to broaden their output and try to reach as many demographics as possible, so I suppose a mobile game from them was inevitable. And hey, it's Android, so maybe it can land on a console via the Ouya or something?
Plus, it would be nice for someone to make a contemporary, gritty brawler with some depth - Castle Crashers, Scott Pilgrim and Dust: Elysian Tail are great, but cartoony. The only other "gritty" brawler is Double Dragon Neon, and the gameplay in that is sort of lacking (it's great because of presentation; let's not kid ourselves).
Hoping for the best here. But I want to see Ninja Theory's next big budget game. Hopefully, their partnership with EA-owned Chillingo here will lead to EA contracting them for a Star Wars game. I've said this before, and I'll say it again: Ninja Theory should do The Force Unleashed 3. They could finish that trilogy off in style; they could produce a better game - by magnitudes - than LucasArts BLINDFOLDED. EA would be foolish not to ask them if they're interested in Star Wars...
Awesome. Will be downloading as soon as it comes out!
Looks alright, but I'd rather they focus on something like DmC 2 or something...
