The lights are on
Today, video game peripheral company Turtle Beach that it will be releasing a line of gaming headsets for Microsoft’s Xbox One console.“In Turtle Beach we have a partner that can help Microsoft deliver world class gaming audio experiences to our customers,” said Turtle Beach’s director of strategic alliances Branden Powell. “Turtle Beach has consistently innovated in wireless, surround sound, and other features and we are looking forward to working with them.”This is significant in a couple of ways. One, we’ve received confirmation from Microsoft that the company will not be packing in a Communicator headset in with the Xbox One, as it did with the Xbox 360 (this is presumably because the unit comes with a next-generation Kinect sensor bar in the box). So, any Xbox One owners who want a headset for online multiplayer will have to be out shopping for an aftermarket headset -- making this a potentially much more lucrative market for Turtle Beach than the 360 was.Secondly, Microsoft told Game Informer that the new Xbox controller features a “high speed data port” which will allow for new peripherals to be used -- including stereo headsets -- through the controller. Let’s hope Turtle Beach is looking at that functionality.Full press release on next page

Okay I guess this is news.
this isn't really a surprise. but yay?
Is it just me or did Sony and Microsoft trade sides of the fence this coming generation?
I know it's such a small thing but having a headset included with the console was a serious plus for the Xbox 360 over the PS3 this current generation. Now Xbox isn't including one but Sony is?
Sony should team up with astro
No thanks. Ps4, Wii U.
Awesome? I bought a $20 dollar headset on NewEgg. Me and my friends dont use *** in game chat (not talking about xbox) we use Mumble. Quality is better and Game sound is better.
Not sure why this is news, cause of course TutrleBeach will make headsets fro Xbox1, just like for the PS4, and PC. That would be like saying "Breaking New: OtterBox is going to be making cases for the new iPhone 6". Not really a surprise.
I bet Microsoft is gonna force them to make headsets that have like 12 different 'modes' for watching movies and TV. Maybe 3-4 'modes' to make you're Skype experience the best ever. And then of course one 'mode' for gaming.
Still on the fence about Xbox One, but if Turtle Beach is involved, I am interested...
It seems Microsoft wants to nickle and dime us to bankruptcy.
The Kinect picks up too much ambient noise kids/dogs/cars/music/video games etc. Why not pack in a cheapo mic. And BTW, since the kinect is mandatory to use the X1, what happens if the kinect stops working properly? Do we have to return our whole system?
I think it is a mistake on Microsoft's part to not include a headset. I think part of what made XBL so popular is that the bar of entry was set so low. The fewer steps between the consumer and your product (XBL in this case) the better.
Well that's good to hear they will keep doing what they always do and put out 10 different versions claiming the newest is the best as the years progress.
