The lights are on
With E3 around the corner and EA openly talking about the next-generation, it will be interesting to see what games make the jump in the systems' launch windows. Could a Need for Speed title be on the docket?
The franchise's Facebook page has posted the above shot of a police cruiser with the caption, "Have no rules, show no mercy." The car doesn't appear to be related to Criterion's Most Wanted game or its DLC, so it will be interesting to see if the company is teasing a new game in the series. The fact that the car is a police cruiser seems to indicate that this potential NFS title could be from any of the series' various lineages except for the sim-esque Shift inprint.
It's been previously reported that Ghost Games (formerly EA Gothenburg) was working on a NFS game.
In the past, the company has said it plans to have a Need for Speed game on the market every year, and the debut of the next-gen systems this year would certainly be a good time to put out a new title for the franchise.
E3 is in a few weeks, so at a minimum we should hear something by then.

Will it be able to compete with the new Forza coming out for the Xbox One??? That was the issue I had with the last need for speed, just didnt feel like it even came close to Forza 4
Says "Pursuit" on the side of the car, hopefully hot pursuit 2! Hot pursuit was bar far the best recent NFS title, most wanted online sucked.
Do we need to ask this question? They roll one out every four months, and no, it will suck in comparison with Underground 2. So we already stop talking about it.
Whatever the hell the next NFS is called, please include customization because it's a necessity. The feel and appearance of our cars allows us to add our own taste to it. Let's get it together people
Uh...yeah, EA already confirmed that they'll be showing the new NFS at E3 and with Criterion already announcing that their next title would not be a racing game that pretty much guarantees it's Ghost Games' title.
I want a Need for Speed game with as many cars as GT, a HUGE sandbox island like the virtual Oahu in Test Drive Unlimited, and a 'one-shard' multiplayer experience where all players live in the same world, meet, race, party, join up, and brag about their customizations.
Awe, and I was hoping oh so much for another Shift or Pro Street racer from them.
There will be, but most likely for next consoles.
I'm guessing that, since it's a Koenigsegg Agera with the police package, this is a teaser for a new Hot Pursuit, or something very similar in nature.
"... a Need for Speed game on the market every year". G*ddamnit, EA really sucks.
Of course there is. Who would have thought otherwise? It's practically on the same cycle as CoD these days.
waiting for it such a long time ....

Why are they calling it rivals? It sounds like it'll be hot pursuit 2. I feel they should leave and try another NFS series like Prostreet 2 or Carbon 2 just to break it up.
