The lights are on
The Kinect is a key component to the Xbox One, and it will be required to run the system.
IGN reports that it talked to Microsoft UK marketing director, Harvey Eagle, who said, "Kinect does require to be connected to Xbox One in all
During the system's reveal, Microsoft walked through just how integrated the peripheral was to the experience.

Dang it Microsoft, if people under the age of 18 weren't so restricted online by PSN I would go to them. Yet, I'd like to use the PS+ I payed for... (AN explanation of that last part, I got PS+ for my Vita, but people under 18 apparently aren't allowed to shop...)
I had high hopes for this but they just keep pushing me away.
The thought of that seems pretty creepy. Imagine you're playing online multiplayer on a game on your XBOX One, and your Kinect would just be watching you, sending video footage of you back to Microsoft. Lol That wouldn't happen. Anyways, what is the big deal if every XBOX One comes with one? If you break it, it would be a big deal, but, if it was something that came with the console, there wouldn't be a problem unless you broke it.
the big deal with this is if the kinect breaks or is malfunctioning, you cant play your xbox...and that is a BIG deal for the majority of gamers that do not use the kinect
What if you lose or break it by accident...u cant even play the darn thing
Why would I want to use a worthless Kinect? The article alone has already post marked and stamped that I WILL NOT be buying this system.
I'm guessing that this is also necessary to navigate menus/ access some features. If so, then Microsoft just gave a big middle finger to mutes. If not, then this comment is pointless. But if it isn't required for these things, there's no damn reason you have to have one connected to your Xbox.
Not a big deal, especially if it comes with one in box. I guess if you break it, that would cause a stir.
Yup thanks for forcing the players to have a V-Chip installed in their gaming console.Yup with that chip, your console can be remotely turned on and possibly scanned your room.Good job MS!
Lets see Camera + Always Online = Hackers can see you!
Well... that's something.
