The lights are on
What if Sony and Microsoft didn't publish different systems? What if the two companies torn down the wall separating them and joined forces to make a console that played both PlayStation and Xbox titles? Friendship is magic after all.
While we listen to rumors and wait for Microsoft to announce it's new console, the dreamers over at TechRadar have sketched out the PlayBox – a console concept that would harness the strengths of both companies and be backwards compatible with all past PlayStation and Xbox games.
What do you think of such a project? Do you see any benefits of having more than one console maker?

its cool and all but, without the competition how would we achieve farther than where we are now. Some companies have great ideas that some would of never think of.
I hope that day never happens. Besides, what else besides Halo and gears of war can the xbox offer? not much else.
I would buy this in a HEARTBEAT!!!
While I like the idea, I can see the cons of it as well, with less competition they would go crazy with prices and some other things would probably be half assed and lack luster...but cross compatibility would be lovely
The best of both worlds would just be the Xbox 360.
Everything about that was an ugly pipe dream. Competition breeds innovation, if that were to happen, they would just monopolize the high end home console war. No need for that, but I am excited to see how Microsoft responds to Sony on Tuesday. I think the PS4 has so much potential that whatever Microsoft presents better wow me on many levels.
I hate fanboys, they ruin the power of friendship.
With that being said, I'd say yes to more connectivity between consoles.

YES! Can't wait for it to release! Long live MicroSony!
Silly, but a good read.
While a fun concept to imagine, that video is just dumb. Tone down the drama for the non-existent device already!
PlayBox? Who comes up with these names? XSystem sounds way better. :P
I felt a great disturbance in the Force, as if millions of fanboy voices suddenly cried out in terror and were suddenly silenced. I fear something terrible has happened.
The benefits of having more than one console maker? duh. this thing would cost $6,000, and nintendo would be forced to pull a SEGA...
