This game will continue to get free expansions for maps, weapons, modes, and connections to EVE, etc
Those are some expensive packs...
Not a bad game at all, it's a stat-wizard's dream come true.
Love Dust...'nuff said ;)
I tried the Beta and hated it. The different mechanisms were never really well explained imo... Maybe I will check it out later if it proves to be good.
Ps3 bringing on the F2P model! woopwoop! Good game!
You know, It feels like I've been hearing about this his game for like years now. I just finished downloading it. I hope it reaches my expectations.
Yea been playing the beta. Pretty mediocre shooter. I think I'll just hold on to my $99.99 if you don't mind.
So I fired this thing up the other day. All games have a learning curve, sure. But this one...it's just overwhelming.
The opening - here's your barracks and your character bit blurred into one long torrent of information. I was completely lost in the first ten minutes...and never even left my room. I can't imagine what actualy playing the game would be like.
Maybe if I'd spent more time in Eve this might make some sense, but coming in cold it was just too much.
I played a bit during the closed and open beta and fired it up again yesterday to see how it was now that it's officially released. The different menus and descriptions are definitly more user-friendly than they were in closed beta (especially the skills page) but the game still has a steep learning curve since it floods you with a ton of information and doesn't bother explanining much of it.
There's a decent selection of different weapons, armor modules (called "dropsuits"), and auxillery gear, and like many other modern shooters you can create custom-tailored loadouts to fit your playstyle. However, there's currently only three different game modes and a handful of maps and the connections with EVE are currently shallow at best.
Plus, ever since open beta CCP has hinted at an eventual PvE/Horde mode in which players could fight various drone enemies to help take over certain sections of planets but even with the game's release it still has yet to be implemented. Such a mode could not only cater to the more PvE-oriented crowd but it could also help newbies ease into the game's complex metagame without getting stomped by players with much better gear and skills.
I'll continue keeping my eye on the game and may even play it every now and then but it defnitly still needs a lot of work in order to gain a larger playerbase.
Please don't say consoles because it looks like a ps3 exclusive.
it's kinda misleading
I still can't access it because the uprising update will still not download in the main game. I will never be able to play this. Sigh.
I tried to get into this, but ended up getting back into Killzone 3. CCP came up with some really interesting ideas, but the actual shooting was sub-par by comparison to certain other shooters. It really just felt like a PC shooter awkwardly stuck on a console developed by a studio that apparently just took a few quick notes and didn't get the full reason you might want to play a shooter. It's certainly not the worst thing, and their effort shows, but it's never going to be mind blowing based on my experience with it.
The gunplay is awful, so count me out.
