The lights are on
[Update] Electronic Arts has revealed a little more info about The Sims 4, including the fact that fans don't need to worry about a repeat performance of SimCity. The Sims 4 is a single-player, offline experience with a focus of personalization and sharing.
[Original Story] The Sims is a juggernaut in the simulation space, and the minds behind the series have revealed that a brand new installment is on the way in 2014.
Electronic Arts and Maxis posted the news today, confirming long-standing rumors that a fourth entry is in the works. It has been almost four years since the release of The Sims 3 (pictured above), so the timing seems about right.
Details are scarce at the moment; EA only announced that the game would be coming to PC and Mac in 2014. Interestingly, no other systems were included in the announcement – a surprise considering the success The Sims 3 found on home consoles.
EA says that more information will be revealed later today, so we'll update this story as new details become available.
Full press release available on page two.

"The Sims 4: Sorry for all that **** we did to SimCity"
That would be a great subtitle :)
More importantly: will SinCity5 be fixed to work offline? Not worth bothering with in its current state
awesome,i liked sims 3 so i will give 4 a shot
Update of offline mode means purchase probability went way up for this title. Smart move EA.
HOPE IT'S BETTER THEN SIMCITY.
Let the milking begin!
I think I'm a wizard lol right before GTA V news came out, I felt like googling GTA 5. Right before Skyrim news came out, I felt like googling Elder Scrolls v. And yesterday, I googled Sims 4 for no reason lol
Awesome, after 3- I can't wait.
That's terrific news. Always wanted to know what an off-line Sims would be like.
That update just made a lot of people happy
Yay! More killing Sims!!!
Always wondering when will they add multiplayer to this game, Sims is a nice game but I would love to see gameplay like the psp version where we control our character as a third person game.
Its pretty bad when the first thing I wonder about the game is "Is it gonna be online only"
When it says focus on sharing it actually means that everything you do on the game will come along side a "Share to Facebook" button.
I've already put money down that they're just going to strip it back down to the basics, and re-release all the stuff currently in the Sims 3 expansions as 'new expansions' (college, self-employed jobs, seasons, weather, etc.etc.).
What can they do more?
