The lights are on
The Linux build of Left 4 Dead 2 is in beta right now. If you own a Steam copy of the game, you should see the beta version in your library immediately.
Taking part in the Linux beta will also give you access to the game's authoring tools and its dedicated server beta. It's not a limited beta, it's the full game. It also supports four community maps, Diescraper Redux, Urban Flight, Back to School, and City 17.

Oh, that'd be sweet.
Cool Beans, makes me want to find out more about the Steambox.
so this is basically it for linux.
Yes and here I thought the series was left 4 dead
It's really impressive that Valve put in the time and effort to make the game usable on the numerous iterations of Linus. Very impressive indeed.
Yay! Really have been waiting for this. Now they just need to release CS:GO and Dota 2 and it should cover for most of the players.
PS. Valve also released the Beta for Windows and Mac.
I'm always happy when I see a new game on linux, except Velve... I just wish them the worse :D
I thought this was "Left 4 Dead 3 beta" and I nearly jumped out of my chair.
:3 no way would that game slip my ears.
Portal is also available, although Valve isn't saying anything about it.
Just another step to porting all Valve properties to the Steam Box.
portal is too
I want left for dead on PS3.
Fun fact about the beta: it's got a new extended mutation system that offers switching between mutations at will and they can change much, much more about the game than they used to.
There are some really fun ones. I've been play Last Man on Earth, where it's completely single player (not even any AI buddies) and no common infected. So it's just you versus the special infected. It becomes a really effective horror game all the sudden.
But yeah, everyone should get the beta! It's available to all platforms, not just linux.
