The lights are on
Flipnote Studio is a free stop-animation drawing app that is only available on the DSi model of the DS. There's a new version of the application coming out for the 3DS, but you will have to manually transfer your animations over if you want to keep them.
Flipnote Studio 3D is coming to the 3DS for free this summer. The animations for Flipnote Studio are currently housed online, but those servers will shut down on May 31. If you want to grab your old animations before they disappear forever, you can head here for directions on what to do.
When Flipnote Studio 3D releases this summer, it will include more options than the previous version of the software. You will have access to more colors and layers, and you will be able to export your animations as GIFs for posting online.

I am so excited for this app! If you're a 3DS owner, then you know that we got TONS of great games. But what we don't have are TONS of cool apps. I've been using Swapnote like crazy and I am so happy that Flipnote 3D is coming. I'm downloading that baby on day one!
I can't wait!
I never had the DSi, so I'm interested in checking this software out as I've heard great things about it.
Finally! I was legitimately upset when I learned FlipNote wasn't originally gonna be on the 3DS. I loved it so much! lol
This is going to be pretty cool. With some of the added features will make this worth the purchase.
Flipnote for 3DS? Hell yeah!
Awesome. I was hoping this would come to the 3DS. I played with the app on my son's DSi, and now I'll be able to use it. Nice to see that it remains free.
Son of a Gun, put in a tip to GI detailing this info about 2 months ago, now they decide to report this "news".
CRAP! ...now i have to buy a 3ds...
Flipnote is cool, I love to watch them. My favorite part is seeing the ones other people do. Mainly because mine don't turn out right....
