The lights are on
Rockstar's been in full-on Grand Theft Auto V hype mode, but that doesn't mean the past is necessarily forgotten. A pair of ESRB listings point to the first two entries in the series appearing on PlayStation platforms.
A NeoGAF Forums user pulled up the listings below, which you can confirm for yourself by visiting the ratings organization's site. The first two games in the series were released in 1997 and 1999, featuring an aerial view of the carnage. Players would have to wait until 2001's Grand Theft Auto III to get a 3D glimpse of the action.
Sony hasn't made any official announcements about the games coming to its consoles. If you're impatient, you can visit Rockstar's official site and download the PC versions of Grand Theft Auto and Grand Theft Auto 2 at no cost as part of the company's Rockstar Classics program. It's hard to beat free and now.

This is really cool. I've been wanting to play the original titles for so long now. Kinda surprised that GTA2 got a T rating.
T-rated GTA? IT A SIGN OF THE APOCALYPSE!!!
For GTA 2 the rating contents dont list "animated blood". I guess they toned down 2 at the time who knows.
Hooray for making red dounuts on my Vita :D
It would be awesome if these showed up on PSN. I had such fun with these on the original Playstation.
LOL an M for GTA 1? "Oh, that is disgusting how that red dot touches that blue circle and then makes burping sounds!"
Great games that started an important trend in the industry. They should include the London expansion as well.
The two GTA classics are great play. I have still my original copies for my PS1 and i have played these games on my DOS computer.
Makes me laugh that the first one is still M. Many T games from now are much worse IMO.
They've had GTA 1 and 2 on their website for free for a LOOOOOOONG time.
Interesting. I have GTA2 for Dreamcast and it's rated M. The only one I haven't played is the first one, I wonder how that one is haha.
"Animated" blood, as opposed to real blood?
I would love for GTA 1 to come to vital, but it kinda has with Retro city rampage. Either way, I would buy it for nostalgia sake.
Impaler here I come!
