The lights are on
[Updated] The teaser trailer for Call of Duty: Ghosts is available below. Additionally, we have received confirmation of the November 5 launch date. What is unexpected is that Call of Duty: Ghosts will be shown for the first time on May 21, 2013, at the Xbox: The Next Generation Revealed event. It will be available on PC, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, and the next Xbox.
Try not to act surprised, but a new Call of Duty game has been announced. The box art leak we shared last week has turned out to be correct, and the full title is Call of Duty: Ghosts.
Not much else is known right now, but we can piece together a few details based on the cover art, the name, and Activision's track record with the series. The figure shown on the front of box seems to have a mask similar to that of Modern Warfare 2's character Lieutenant Simon "Ghost" Riley.
Ghost was killed in action, but not before building a following thanks to a starring role in a limited-run comic series. It could be that Infinity Ward will wind the clock back to put the hero front and center in this year's installment.
An early November release is expected, following in step with past iterations. Black Ops II was released on November 13, Modern Warfare 3 arrived on November 8, and Black Ops was on November 9. A rumored promotional poster spotted by IGN seems to indicate a release on the first Tuesday (November 5) rather than the second.
Now that the cat is out of the bag, we're expecting more details shortly.

What. A. Shock.
I haven't been excited by the SP part of Call of Duty since Modern Warfare 2. I am praying that we are no longer getting the "FOLLOW ME/HIM," shooting galleries and we get some more sandbox type gaming. The set pieces are cool, but they are so linear and boring.
Woah Woah Woah.. are you just telling me that there's going to be another COD game?!? With masks?!? I need a moment to take this in..
No Wii U.
Decent Teaser, hope its a decent Call of Duty. Haven't bought call of duty day 1 ever, we'll see COD. We'll see.
This is either going to a Tom Clancy:GR ripoff or some sort of unnecessary prequel a la Gears of War Judgement. Anyways, I'll probably still purchase this, along with half everyone else I know.
Are they brothers of Ghost from MW2? :p
the skull looks pretty Dishonored-esque
I... no, this was unexpected.
Everyone I think we're missing the most important reveal here: Lord of the Rings and Call of Duty are mashing together this fall. Didn't anyone else see Gollum 39 seconds in to the trailer?
DOES IT EVER END?!
That was pretty lame
Or MAYBE he's not dead? Maybe he somehow survived being shot in the stomach/arm and being lit on fire? Long shot, but I'm hoping..
i thought that finally the would take a whole year to make a good one, but there just gonna push out some more trash....
Well, I guess if I had to choose 5 series I'd like to see make their way to the XBOX 720. They'd be (1)"Fallout", (2)"MidNight Club", (3)"Call of Duty", (4)"BattleField" and (5) "Red Alert". So it's nice to know at least one of them will be present at the launch!!! ^_^
(Though I think "Destiny" will make the biggest waves with it's simultaneous 360-720 release. Not to mention the fact that both systems will be able to play each-other over XBOX LIVE, which makes me question the rumors that the architecture of the XBOX 720 suggests that it could have a backwards-compatibility chip....)
It doesn't have to be the same character.
It could be the same idea that Ghost Recon has used for years, that there's an elite unit of soldiers that do, well, "ghost" missions.
it's about as generic a name as "black ops" just...sort of cooler.
i think it's ok that they're taking a different direction CoD than most people would like to believe.
