Rumor: EA Sports Skipping Tiger Woods 15

by Matthew Kato on Apr 29, 2013 at 05:56 AM

Sports gaming might not be so annualized after all. There's a rumor that EA Sports won't be releasing next year's Tiger Woods title.

Kotaku has heard from multiple sources that EA Sports was originally planning to have franchise developer EA Tiburon take a year off and work on the next-gen debut of the series in 2015 while an outside studio handled the current-gen version of Tiger 15. However, the resignation of CEO John Riccitiello killed the idea.

We contacted a spokesperson for the franchise, who said in a statement: "We do not comment on rumors or speculation. With the recent launch of Tiger Woods PGA Tour 14 and the positive response, we remain focused on making improvements and providing a great experience to our golf fans."

EA has recently gone through numerous changes, from the resignation of CEO John Riccitiello, the transfer of EA Sports head Andrew Wilson, the folding of EA partners, and layoffs.

EA Tiburon – makers of the Madden, Tiger, and MMA franchises (the latter still to come), is familiar to its games missing years. It's working on the long-awaited NBA Live reboot, which has been delayed several years.
