Weekend Warrior 04/26/13

by Ben Reeves on Apr 26, 2013 at 02:00 PM

Spring finally showed up to Minnesota, but you could have fooled us, because we're still playing inside like there's snow on the ground (actually there still is). This weekend we dig into our backlogs.

Jeff Cork: We’re recovering from our fourth winter-inside-a-winter here in Minnesota, so I’m going to try to enjoy the outdoors if I can. If not, I’m going to dig back into Skyrim. I’m playing as a summoner-type mage, and I’ve probably forgotten all of the controls by now. I expect to see lots of funny ragdoll deaths as I struggle to relearn everything. I’m going to see if I can’t get into Need for Speed: Most Wanted as well. While cars don’t flop around as hilariously in that one, failure is still rewarded.

Tim Turi: I popped in Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen not having played the original game. Despite the game’s complexity and lack of direction, I think I may continue to dive deeper. The combat and huge monsters are enough to keep me engaged. When I emerge on the other side of this weekend I’m sure I’ll know whether I’m in it for the long run or I’ll bring it back to the GI Vault.

Ben Hanson: This weekend I hope to finish off Luigi's Mansion for the 3DS, I've really been enjoying the game so far. It surpasses Super Mario 3D Land as my favorite game for the system. Other than that, I've got a wicked game of Neptune's Pride 2 going for some other editors so I'll continue to check in on our epic RTS space battle. I also plan on playing Playstation All-Stars, I'm embarrassed that it has taken me so long to get around to this one since Smash Bros. is one of my favorite series in gaming. Have a good weekend!

Jeff Marchiafava: This weekend I’ll be trying to get back into the swing of Tomb Raider, and spend some more time with BattleBlock Theater as well. Basically, I just hope I don’t sit around all weekend playing Super Stickman Golf 2 like I did most of this week. Not that I’m complaining about SSG 2, mind you…

Mike Futter: Believe it or not, I'm still playing Defiance. This weekend, I'm also going to put in a little bit of time with Borderlands. Whether I'll be doubling back to play DLC I missed in Borderlands 1 or finally getting underway in Borderlands 2 is anyone's guess. I've also got a real itch to play XCOM: Enemy Unknown again after writing the first story on The Bureau: XCOM Declassified last night.
