The lights are on
Nintendo has released a system update for the Wii U that addresses a number of user complaints. The UI is faster overall, and tweaks like background downloads and file transfers have been added as well.
Here's the complete rundown, according to Nintendo:
The Wii U Virtual Console and Panorama View aren't included in this update, but Nintendo said they would be coming to users shortly after this update.
In addition to the system update, Nintendo has released the beta version of a web-based Miiverse. Now you can swap pictures and tips with your fellow players away from your console. Head here to see for yourself.

Mine's already installed. I wasn't too bothered by the long loading times except when hopping around, but this definitely can't hurt.
Substantial update, took about an hour on my subpar internet. I can wait for the VC update, this along with the free rayman demo (851mb) were plenty to keep me busy last night.
The DL while off is nice, the indicator light now glows orange when it's in that stand by mode which might as well be off.
Now they just need more robust user profiles that can be used simultaneously on the Wii U and 3DS.
Since the update I can's access the Eshop. I updated my system at 4p.m. yesterday. I tried all night and again this morning to access the Eshop. Different error codes pop up every time. I've checked the codes on Nintendo.com and they say the codes aren't recognized. Am I alone?
