The lights are on
This console cycle has seen the advent of the often-adored HD collection. The uptick in visual fidelity brought about the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3 has made these compilations easy to sell to fans. But what happens when a publisher comes back to the well again?
This June, Konami is planning to release a second assemblage of Metal Gear Solid titles, this time exclusively for PlayStation 3 in a package called "The Legacy Collection." The reason for the exclusivity is the inclusion of the original Metal Gear Solid, which we expect will simply be attainable via a download code. The title is currently available on the PlayStation Network.
Purchasers will also walk away with Metal Gear Solid 2: HD Edition, Metal Gear Solid 3: HD Edition (which includes the original MSX versions of Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2), Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker HD Edition, Metal Gear Solid: VR Missions, and Metal Gear Solid 4: Trophy Edition. The package also includes two digital graphic novels by Ashley Wood. Wood's art has been featured throughout the series' history and is easily recognizable due to the combination of oil painting with digital effects.
It seems that the other PSP titles, Portable Ops and the Metal Gear Acid games are likely to be trapped on Sony's first handheld for the foreseeable future. The inclusions not featured in the Metal Gear Solid HD Collection released in 2011 are the original Metal Gear Solid, the VR Missions, Metal Gear Solid 4, and the digital comics.
The package will be available in June 2013. No price (or the presence of the Transfarring feature) has yet been revealed.

It would be cool if MGS came as a hard copy since you're only basically "renting" it for a couple years before Sony shuts down their PS3 servers in favor of the PS4. Maybe it'll be longer than a couple years, but it will happen eventually.
I already own MGS4 and the HD collection. So this one would only be worth it if the original MGS was given an HD facelift.
I don't own any of the games in this collection, so I'll probably pick this up. It actually depends on the packaging, I'm picky like that. So, can't wait to see some pictures, and a price point.
If all of the games were on disc I would be a buyer for sure. If I got this for anything it would be VR Missions because that is the only game I don't have. It would be nice to have everything on one system but I don't want downloads.
Haha, I just picked up the HD collection (finally) last month. Oh well, I already own the original and 4, so I guess it's not too bad.
I just bought MGS1 a few mouths back but I still might get this since I dont have 2 or 3 in hd and 4 I already have. Plus Peace Walker I have never played so thats a plus also.
I am going to get this, for the 2 graphic novels(which i am guessing is the 2 PSP things in book form),and for MGS1 which i have not owned since PSOne days..shame its not TTS,but i have that already for GC or the new re-imagined version Konami said they wanted to do(probably to get a new version of MGS1 to the people without a gamecube)
Oh and the HD collection on the PS3(i had the HD collection on the 360)
I just hope its not some ridiculous price
Sounds like I'll have to set cash aside for this one.
Since I already own all of the games minus MGS1 and its VR missions, I have been finding it difficult to decide whether or not to buy this. The graphic novels are a pretty nice addition. Although to anyone who does not own these games this seems like a great deal.
***, i wish i could get it because i've always been wanting to get into the series, but xbox isn't getting this, so i cant get this
Wow, that's quite an excellent deal then.
I get this news the week after I buy 2,3, & 4 separately. Then again, this sounds like something that'd be A) pricey and B) for the hardcore fans and, ironically, for the one's who know nothing of the series. Needless to say, my feelings for this are all over the place.
