BBC Hopeful For Increased Cross-Merchandising In Next Xbox

If you've ever wanted to go right from watching an episode of Doctor Who to playing a game starring the Time Lord to purchasing your own sonic screwdriver, the BBC wants to make that happen. Speaking with GamesIndustry International, the network's executive vice president, Robert Nashak, spoke about the value of Microsoft's platform.

During the conversation, Nashak lauded Microsoft for its efforts so far, but expressed his hope for an even more seamless experience in the next generation. From his perspective, improvements to the Xbox Live service would allow easier cross-merchandising opportunities and "more frictionless billing" (which is a nice way of saying that he would like faster and easier transactions across apps for impulse purchases).

Nashak also had kind words for the efforts of SyFy Channel with regard to its new trans-media experience, Defiance. Interestingly, he also discusses the challenges he experienced in his past life with EA, and specifically calls out rushing to meet deadlines on projects. Defiance has had a rough start, especially on Xbox 360. And while it's improving, it might not be the best example of the holistic approach Nashak is aiming for.
