The lights are on
Some Game Informer editors will visit the dangerous world of Defiance with anyone brave enough to join them. New releases and a classic PlayStation role-playing game are also on the to-do lists this weekend.
Mike Futter: Injustice has captured my attention with its solid story mode, interactive backdrops, and brutal (but still T-rated) combat. I’m certain I’ll be spending more time with it this weekend. Most importantly, Game Informer's executive editor and I will be hosting a community Hellbug-fest this weekend. On Saturday and Sunday, join us for Defiance on Xbox 360. Complete information is available here.
Ben Hanson: This weekend I'm looking forward to sitting back and relaxing with a couple of games. I just started playing Tomb Raider and am curious to see where it goes after hearing so much praise around the office, including several editors placing it above Bioshock Infinite. Other than that, I'm playing through Mark of Kri on PS2 for the first time. I've been meaning to get around to it for a while after playing the demo so long ago and I'm enjoying certain parts of it (the combat, the animation) but there are other aspects (checkpoints, camera) that have aged horribly. Have a good weekend!
Tim Turi: This weekend I hope to finish up Juan’s quest in Guacamelee, which I’ve really been enjoying. I also have to choose between finally seeing what Dragon’s Dogma is all about or starting God of War: Ascension. Not gonna lie, I think Dragon’s Dogma might win this one. Haven’t been able to play either of the new “GoW” games lately – Gears of War: Judgment has remained on my floor untouched. I’ll get to them.
Kyle Hilliard: After beating Far Cry 3 last night, I am relatively caught up on the current games I feel I need to play, and my backlog. My wife and I went on a Miyazaki Amazon spree picking up just about every movie that’s available on Blu-ray or DVD that we didn’t already own, so we will probably subject our child to a Miyazaki movie marathon against her will. Otherwise I will be staring out the window trying to will the snow to melt and contemplating if I am brave enough to tackle Guacamelee on hard.
Andrew Reiner: I'll hopefully be playing Defiance with many of you this weekend. Tonight goes to Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon.
Jeff Marchiafava: I finally managed to beat BioShock Infinite this week, so I’m looking forward to getting back to Lara Croft’s latest adventure. Tomb Raider might not have as much quantum mechanics shenanigans, but I’m still enjoying looting crypts and killing jerks with my pickaxe. I also want to put more time into BattleBlock Theater, because that game is fun.
Louis Garcia: I was slowly working on BioShock Infinite, but after hearing about how Game Informer editor Matt Kato has been enjoying FIFA Ultimate Team mode in FIFA 13 I gave it another go. I’m now addicted to buying virtual cards of soccer players, as well as virtual packs akin to Pokemon Trading Card Game packs, and can’t find my way back to Infinite for the foreseeable future. At this point I’m not spending real money on players or item cards – I can't justify paying real money for virtual cards that are obsolete when the next game releases – but the descent into my obsession with crafting the ultimate team has begun.
Kim Wallace: I have a friend coming in from Toronto this weekend, and we’re going to beat Suikoden II. I can’t wait to get all the Stars of Destiny and see how the game holds up. Also, I feel like I’m finally nearing the end of Tomb Raider (blame Bioshock Infinite for distracting me), I wish it featured more inner monologues with Lara about her struggles, but maybe that will change soon. It’s just so much is happening to her; I want to hear more insight than moans. I will give the game credit for grossing me out with the blood-soaked, dead body-filled water. I felt like gagging as Lara was in it.
Plan to get Injustice after I save the money for it. I enjoyed the demo; from what I played, I definitely plant o get the game.
Tomb Raider's multiplayer is surprisingly fun. It's not good, but it's the type of bad that makes it fun so the fun makes it good. Check out the Dynamite Cop Super Replay to see what I mean. Anyway, I'm looking to get as many multiplayer achievements as I can with this weekend offering Gold for free. Don't think I'll get all of them, but as long as I get most of them.
Working on my 3rd play through of Dark Souls.
Probably mix in a little Injustice on the WiiU.
And Luigi's Mansion when the TV isn't available.
oh man! reiner gets to play blood dragon this weekend?!
i may be more than slightly jealous.
in the meantime, i will continue playing dishonored.
Injustice arcade ladder mode and maybe some...ah, who am I kidding, Its gonna be nothin but Injustice, Unless I pick up a Red Lanterns comic book like I planned.
It's gonna be an SMT weekend. I got Soul Hackers the other day and I'm just loving it! I'm also working on the platinum trophy in Persona 4 Golden. I'll pretty much just jump between both those games all weekend.
Just finished Resistance 2 single-player campaign so I'm gonna check out the online modes (I know it's mostly dead but I got a few friends who would want to play with me) or the offline co-op (splitscreen). Big birthday party on Sunday so I guess this is all I'll be doing.
BioShock Infinite. Also most likely Far Cry 3...i'm out of games to play i've pretty much Platinumed everything I own...booo. Have a good weekend everyone!
Started Dishonored a few days ago, so I'll probably keep playing that. I suck at stealth, but it's still a pretty damn fun game.
Battleblock theater,Dead Space 3,L.A Noire mostly
Well, we all know what we'll be playing this weekend.
God Mode. Of course, I probably should have tried the demo before buying it sight unseen and based off the humor of the trailers.
Nothing specific, I will most likely play what I feel like playing. I have about 10 games where I am at least halfway through and still need to beat so I will try to finish some of those games up.
