The lights are on
Confirming rumors from last month, Sony has now officially announced the Jak and Daxter Collection for the Vita handheld.
The collection – already on the PlayStation 3 – includes Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy, Jak II, and Jak 3, and is scheduled for release this June.
Apart from bringing the look and feel of these classic PlayStation 2 games, some of the titles' minigames will utilize the Vita's touchscreen. The Vita Collection also has its own set of Trophies.
It's unknown of Mass Media – the developers behind the PS3 Collection – are handling this port as well.

Great game. Great gameS, too :) But not exactly what the Vita needs, Sony. All first party games should come out simultaneously on both platforms at this point, no? In the few months where the PS3 and Vita are Sony's priorities before the Playstation 4 arrives, anyway.
Man, it's crazy to watch Nintendo and Sony these days. With Nintendo, 90% of the support goes to the handheld, and the 3DS is killing it. With Sony, 90% of the support goes to the home console, and the PS3 is killing it.
There's some parallel universe somewhere where Sony DIDN'T get screwed over by Nintendo with the SNES-CD/Playstation, and the two companies formed together. Sony mainly handles the home console market, Nintendo mainly handles the handheld market, and the two squash all competitors that come along. Microsoft never got the Xbox off the ground, and we never had to live through the horrible glut of desaturated, mindless shooters that we're currently living through. Gaming must be awesome in that universe :)
I'm all for games coming to multiple platforms for people to enjoy, but I feel a little annoyed that I have to pay for the games again to enjoy on my Vita. I wish there would be some way to make these accessible if they are already owned for the PS3 without having to re-buy them.
Hey, they finally caught my attention! I will buy this, because that is a series that most assuredly deserves a dedicated playthrough...what better way to play it than when I would normally be wasting time in the car, in a line, waiting for this thing or that? The only other thing I could wish for related to this is if they didn't make me buy it again since I already purchased the ps3 hd collection.
Though I never played the originals at release, I liked the HD collection on PS3 well enough. If I did have a Vita, could I actually platinum these games all over again?. . .
Right on always liked these games on the Playstation 2 this might be worth piking up the vita. It does seem to have alot of ports though not much new IPs. Shame seeing as the hardware can obviously handle graphic heavy gameplay
I only really played the first Jak and Daxter game, but I loved every minute of it. It really was a great exclusive for Playstation, and it looks like now I'll have a chance to play through it, and the sequels, again. I just got my Vita, and I think it's a pretty damn awesome device. But like many have stated, for it to succeed where the PSP did not, the Vita definitely needs, and I mean NEEDS, to have it's own exclusive games, that are not ports or remakes or any of that. Give us a new Ratchet or Jak game, give us a brand new, Vita only, Metal Gear Solid game. Push for more third party developers to support the Vita, with new exclusive games. You want to sell more Vitas? Create a new advertising campaign, and bring the price down to $200 even. Drop the prices of the memory cards by at least $10 each, at LEAST! Update the Vita so we can plug it into our PC and just drag and drop files, instead of using the unnecessarily complicated and convoluted content manager. Adding music to a portable device should not be difficult...
But first and foremost, are the GAMES. Come on Sony!!! Do not make the same mistake as you did with the PSP. The Vita is as good as it gets hardware wise for a portable gaming device right now. Where are the games???
