The lights are on
Final Fantasy Versus XIII was first announced in May 2006, and since then has been a specter haunting Square Enix. Nary an interview goes by with key franchise personnel without the title being brought up (and hurriedly dismissed). We've even put together our own timeline of the title's wending way through development.
In a conversation with director Tetsuya Nomura on the first episode of Square Enix Merchandise Radio (an official corporate podcast), the topic of Final Fantasy Versus XIII was raised. “It’s a delicate situation within the company,” Nomura stated.
After a promise that the date is set for the next information reveal, Nomura drops one more interesting tidbit. "Perhaps the details as to why information couldn’t be released might be touched upon with the next information announcement."

I think Dre has been working on Detox as long as Square has been working on this game.
This still exists?
So long as we see proof that it's coming out. The XIII universe (involving Lightning) is getting a little tired.
I really just want to know why it's been on hold for so long.
Is this game still in the making? I thought they were just gonna let it fade away. Don't get me wrong I wanted this game (still do), but I don't want this to turn out like DNF did (especially with FF games going downhill, IMHO).
Sadly I don't think this or Kingdom Hearts 3 will ever be released
Just wait, it'll be announced for the next generation of gaming
hmmm, where have i heard this before...
Look, guys. This is simple. You give us the game, we give you our money.
If you can't give us the game, then you can burn in hell for wasting our time for the past 7 years.
I was never very interested in this game when I heard about it during E3 back in the old 06. I had always thought that announcing three major FF games was a sales tactic, and that we would not get the products in a timely manner. Took FFXIII four years, Agito slightly longer, and still don't have Versus. Let the main FF team work on Versus, and not another Lightning sequel. (That should have been left to the portable FF teams, who have made console sequels before---) which would have left us with options of KH3 and other projects suited to the team. Versus is a main game.... no doubt. Leave it with the team that is used to those graphic engines and other numbered entry advances.
I want this freaking game already its been far to long since it was first announced :/
if they cant release the game then make a movie...Fans will eat that sh*t up!..."Yes, bring me a second plate"
