More Money For Your Madden Lawsuit Troubles (NCAA, Too)

by Mike Futter on Apr 16, 2013 at 04:47 AM

Back in 2012, we reported that anyone who had purchased an NFL, NCAA, or AFL-licensed game could claim compensation as part of a class-action lawsuit. Things just got better for those of you who qualify.

The initial settlement proposal would have awarded $6.79 for GameCube, Xbox, and PlayStation title purchases. Wii, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3 versions would have only brought in $1.95 each.

In a revised settlement, those amounts have been increased to $20.37 and $5.85 respectively. Awards top out at a maximum of eight titles with financial caps at $162.96 for last-generation games and $46.80 for more recent versions.

The lawsuit was brought against EA under California antitrust law. The suit alleges that the exclusivity agreements signed by EA with the AFL, NFL, NCAA, and NFL Players Association create an illegal monopoly.

You can read more about the settlement and learn how to claim your share at the Pecover v. Electronic Arts settlement website. Interested parties have until May 15 to opt out, object, or file a claim. We suspect that most of you will be opting for the latter.
