The lights are on
We're sorry to both lift and dash your hopes at the same time, Vault Dwellers. This tease is not for a new Fallout game. Today, Bethesda teased something new with a four-second Vine (Twitter's short movie service).
At first glance, the barbed wire and musical terms that flash through might lead the hopeful to believe that a new Fallout would be announced soon (especially since it had been recently hinted at by a Fallout 3 voice actor). Alas, a tweet from Bethesda vice president of public relations and marketing Pete Hines has us looking for other ideas.
One good suggestion comes from BioWare senior gameplay designer Manveer Heir who tweeted this,
The barbed wire certainly fits the Wolfenstein aesthetic, and the series would be a good fit for next generation hardware, marrying a known intellectual property with a franchise that can be safely rebooted or expanded upon. The good news is that even if this tease has nothing to do with Fallout, there is still hope that a new adventure in the post-apocalyptic wasteland might be in development. After all, Bethesda is a publisher as well as a developer. It stands to reason that they have multiple projects underway simultaneously.
What do you think Bethesda is hinting at? You can check out the Vine here.

As long as I get to see a next-gen robot hitler final boss I'm ok.
and this is why i hate realy short teasers! all you can do is speculate until they actually follow it up with another teaser thats longer and more prominent in stating what the actual game is...I will say this, if its not fallout related DON'T TEASE ME!! lmao..although a wolfenstein game would be interesting but doesn't touch me all that much in the gut.
THE BIGGEST ESCAPE FROM PRISON MISSION EVER
The record is August Wilhemj's arrangement of the second movement of Bach's Orchestral Suite No. 3 in D Major, better known as Air on the G String.
Which *might* be an oblique reference to Wolfenstein, but its pretty damn vague, if you ask me.
Skyrim was in full production less than a year after fallout 3 was released, fallout 4 is coming (Hopefully with the new engine/next gen too). Even if this tease doesn't fit with fallout, Bethesda did say they were gonna make alot of noise this year, so fallout definitely has a chance of coming later this year, not to mention the 3 year cycles the TES and FO games have, it will likely be announced this year but not come out until late 2014.
Wolfenstein seems likely, but if it is its probably not made by Bethesda internally, so a Fallout 4 or even TESVI (Which I doubt) is being made as you read this, and there's still a possibilility that Bethesda told Pete Hines to lie/bluff about it in an effort to get more hype.
Ughhh can they just announce fallout 4 already? Everything else is just smoke and mirrors.
a new wolfenstein would be cool, really needs to bring something new to the table though. killing nazi's is a little played out
I saw G string so maybe it's a new Dead or Alive. Dead or Alive, now with VATS! Target ANY body part you want! Bowchickawawa.
Do we know it's a sequel or reboot, could be a new game completely.
Hmm... Maybe it's Skyrim 2000. ;-)
Good! Bethesda rarely dissapointments me.
Fallout >>>>>> Wolf&Stain
I'm more interested in the New Vegas sequel by Obsidian if it's true. I don't care for Bethesda's handling of Fallout.
And what's this Wolfenstein?
I really hope that they announce something pertaining to the next Fallout game.My bet is that as a third party they would be given a chance to showcase at the Xbox 720 unveiling. Fingers crossed!
It's Rage 2: The Conclusion to the First One
