The lights are on
[Update] Bethesda has informed Game Informer that the listing is a clerical mixup and that there is "no new version of the game coming."
A listing for a multiplatform title called The Elder Scrolls: Arena has popped up on the Australian government's ratings website.
A reader of games.on.net has pointed the website to the Australian Classification database's listing of the game. It's rated M for fantasy violence, and the entry (dated April 9, 2013) lists the "author" as Bethesda Softworks and the publisher as Zenimax Europe. Zenimax is the parent company of Bethesda.
If the name The Elder Scrolls: Arena sounds familiar, it's because it was already used. That's the first game in the series developed for DOS back in 1994. Whether this is an update of that or something different is unknown at this time.
Recently, Bethesda co-president Pete Hines said the company would "make more noise" this year. Could this be a part of that?
We're reached out for comment to Bethesda, and will let you know if we hear anything back.

I would love an updated re-release for the earlier Elder Scrolls games. I have played a bit of them, and while they are still good, the controls have not aged well.
"Making more noise" makes me think of a giant crowd cheering in an arena so I assume what co president was talking about was in fact a new ES arena game
there probably updating it and putting on consoles for $30,they want in on what square enix does.
They couldn't really give much of an aesthetic upgrade to a game that spans the entirety of Tamriel without huge amounts of effort, so I'm guessing this will be a straight port.
My guess.. is that its gonna be a 3DS/Vita game. There is no way these guys wont pounce on the booming and strong (in my opinion) handheld market.
It couldn't be Arena, since that game included all of Tamriel, so I don't see how they fit it in Creation engine.
I wish they make a revisit just like community did to Doom with doomsday kickstart.
I have Arena and Daggerfall sitting on my PC, just havent gotten the urge to try and make DOSBox work to play them.
Oh well, that would have been pretty cool.
