The lights are on
[Updated] Bethesda has confirmed to Game Informer that there will be no further Skyrim DLC.
Bethesda is officially moving on from the Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. The studio said in a blog post that while the game has been near and dear to the team' since design began in 2006, it's now time for work for the next big game to begin in earnest.
"For the last year and a half we’ve been working on new content for Skyrim; from the game updates, Creation Kit, Steam Workshop, Kinect support, to DLCs. Parts of our team have also been in pre-production on our next major project, and that game is at the point where it requires the studio’s full attention to make it our biggest and best work yet," read the post on the Bethesda Blog.
That announcement means that the game's 1.9 patch, which was released on PC in March and last week on consoles, was probably the last substantial content add-on players will be seeing. "Even though we’re moving on, we’ll still have minor updates to Skyrim as needed," Bethesda added. In other words, don't get your hopes up.
It's bittersweet to see that post-launch support is essentially done, particularly since so many great ideas had yet to be implemented. Bethesda's bound to dip into the Elder Scrolls well again, so there's always next time.
We've reached out to Bethesda for clarification regarding future Skyrim DLC. Based on the content of the statement though, we have reason to believe that there will be no more.

i dont really see how our current dlc is "lacking" compared to TES4 and TES3 dlc. cant satisfy everyone, i guess. was looking forward to one more tho.
I would really be happy with a new fallout or the next edition to the Elder Scrolls. Either way, Bethesda has been good to me and I can't wait for the next game.
Thats actually kind of lame, Fallout 3 got quite a bit of DLCs and skyrim gets only 2 and a half. I still play Skyrim and I still want more, but hey atleast thier working on the next Elder Scrolls and the best part is that the next game will be on next gen consoles, and thats going to be a crazy game.
Skyrim 2? :p
No really, do Fallout 4 though. Or at the least somewhere new in Fallout, like Fallout: New New York. ;-)
darn. despite the issues on ps3, this game was amazing. it was massive to begin with, made only more massive by the dlc. it's pretty incredible that that smallish group of folks gave millions of hours to gamers across the world in a rich universe.
i can't wait to hear what they are working on next.
Well at least realese an update were you can contract lycanthropy from werebears and werewolves! werebears in Dragonborn were such a tease, plus I don't like being forced to join the companions. Sorry for the age old complaint my fellow Gameinformians.
It was fun while it lasted. I had tons of fun with the game, made some moments I'll remember, but it's time I finish building my manor and call it a day.
im bittersweet to hear this, know i know they all are on fallout, but i loved skyrim very dearly
It was a fun ride can't wait for the next ride.
man im really disappointed i thought there would be at least one more major dlc you cant really count hearthfire as major dlc, with them having a bunch of interesting story lines added to skyrim that see no real resolution i was hoping for more, especially some dlc centered around the thalmor or the falmer would have been nice
A shame that the PS3 version never seemed to be fixed.
Fallout 4! But it's gonna be pretty hard to have a shooter RPG type game especially since all the CoDs came out. Because hey i really enjoyed Fallout 3, but let's be honest, the shooting outside of VATS was not the strongest element of that game and even thought the 10mm pistol was one of the weakest weapons I don't think it should take 15 head shots on a character without a helmet to kill him. But if anyone could pull this off Bethesda can.
Thank you for your hard work and dedication. Here's hoping that Fallout 4 will be completed soon.
