The lights are on
[Updated] Bethesda has confirmed to Game Informer that there will be no further Skyrim DLC.
Bethesda is officially moving on from the Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. The studio said in a blog post that while the game has been near and dear to the team' since design began in 2006, it's now time for work for the next big game to begin in earnest.
"For the last year and a half we’ve been working on new content for Skyrim; from the game updates, Creation Kit, Steam Workshop, Kinect support, to DLCs. Parts of our team have also been in pre-production on our next major project, and that game is at the point where it requires the studio’s full attention to make it our biggest and best work yet," read the post on the Bethesda Blog.
That announcement means that the game's 1.9 patch, which was released on PC in March and last week on consoles, was probably the last substantial content add-on players will be seeing. "Even though we’re moving on, we’ll still have minor updates to Skyrim as needed," Bethesda added. In other words, don't get your hopes up.
It's bittersweet to see that post-launch support is essentially done, particularly since so many great ideas had yet to be implemented. Bethesda's bound to dip into the Elder Scrolls well again, so there's always next time.
We've reached out to Bethesda for clarification regarding future Skyrim DLC. Based on the content of the statement though, we have reason to believe that there will be no more.

Well, it was good while it lasted. I think I'm in my fifth character in SKyrim. Wish there was another DLC, but is time to move on.
I doubt they will release another Elder Scrolls game. I can't believe that they would release Skyrim,The Elder Scrolls Online, and The Elder Scrolls _______ all together without thinking it will hurt their sales. I'm banking on a new Fallout or hopefully a new ip for next gen.
I agree with everyone on the Fallout "4" version. it is a shame however about not creating any more DLC's for the game since its so vast and there is so much that could be done. ah well still waiting for Elder Scrolls Online to be ready until fallout 4 :)
This is really good news imo. I mean I love Skyrim as much as the next guy, but I'd rather play a new game than more DLC.
While I was hoping there would be more Skyrim DLC, I think Bethesda is under pressure to have a game ready within a year of the next gen consoles' release. I wish there was more Skyrim DLC, but I suppose I would rather see them working diligently on a great new game.
I wish they'd stop trying to make their games bigger, and would focus on making what's there better. But I'm still excited to see what they do next. Hopefully we'll get more interesting characters and quests for the next installment.
Very bittersweet, but excited to for their next huge project!
In Bethesda we trust!
To pitty because SKYRIM is a huge and great game. I had a little hope for a next DLC because i have found a path in the game that i could not go futher on. So i thought maybe for a new DLC we can find it out whats behind that hidden path. :(
Looking forward to what is next!
The only thing that kind of seems odd is that they just released the Legendary update for your perks. I was really hoping some DLC would make it actually worthwhile. Maybe like extra perks for Destruction to cast Master spells while moving? Just little tweaks I would have like to have seen. Otherwise great job and I'm looking forward to more Fallout!
Skyrim was awesome, but I still feel like they did a better job with Oblivion (even though they should have brought everything over to PS3).
It's sad to see Skyrim go, but I'm excited to see Bethesda's next epic.
I'm going to be honest, I think the PS3 had to do with no more DLC. I am sure they were going to do more, but it took too long so they canceled it. They spent 6 months to fix the PS3, so that could of been there for another DLC. I am not saying I hate the PS3 or anything. But, I am sure most PS3 users would of waited to get it fixed if it meant another DLC.
Skyrim could have been better, but it was really fun. I hope they announce Fallout 4. You know, if they are even working on it.
FALLOUT 4!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YESSSSS:DDDD
