Criterion's Next Title Will Not Be A Racing Game

by Mike Futter on Apr 15, 2013 at 11:22 AM

Those hoping for another trip to Paradise City are in for some disappointment. Brilliant arcade-style racing developer Criterion's next title will not be in the Burnout or Need for Speed franchises. In fact, it won't be a racing game at all.

Today, the studio's creative director, Alex Ward, tweeted the following message to fans,

While we're certainly eager to see what comes next (and, no, it won't be Black 2), it's a shame that we'll need to bide our time before Criterion's next bone-crunching racer. Thankfully, Ward does say that they'll make another Burnout game "when it feels right." If you haven't had the chance to pick up Need for Speed: Most Wanted, Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit, or Burnout: Paradise, they can all be purchased for a song. As you can tell from our reviews, they're worth it.
