The lights are on
A number of sources have revealed to The Verge that the next-generation Xbox will be able to interact with users' TV programming similarly to Google TV.
An always-on Internet connection will apparently be required to allow for continuous streaming of entertainment services and TV signals. The cable box signal will connect to the Xbox with an HDMI cord so that the Live UI can interact with cable programming.
Previous rumors from The Verge point to a pre-E3 Xbox event in May, but nothing is confirmed yet. Head to The Verge to learn more.
Hmmm, I don't think I want this.
What TV programming?
This sure as hell better not be an excuse for them to go 'always online'.
Kind of creepy. Good thing I don't watch tv or even have cable.
I guess that means we won't have to pay extra for a wireless attachment this time.
I love it! Everyone on this site is always Online, complaining Online about their system being always Online! How about you guys get both consoles but before you do that buy an Online plan. It's 2013, sorry hackers and thieves, now you just have to buy games. If you're internet is that wack, I don't want you online lagging my game connection speed and no one else does either. PS4 has the same online always function. I bet you its gonna be up to the first and third party software developers on how it will be used to tackle piracy.
shame on you gameinformer for not including details of the xbox mini and durango are two different beast, durango doesnt need to be only.the mini does.the durango can play used games.the mini cant.
the prediction in game infarcer about xbox becoming a media machine and not playing video game is sounding more and more spot on, i predict the xbox after this new one wont even play video games
I want a game console to play games, all of the other media stuff is extremely secondary to me.
the current xbox is already doing that specifically with the at&t uverse having been in their commercials- no suprise to me but i just hope no always online to play games
Exactly why I'm going back to my first love, hello Sony PS (4).
So, you pay for cable. Then pay for XBL to watch it?
if this rumor is true. guess ill go with wii u and ps4.
I don't really care about this. My console is for games, streaming NFL Sunday Ticket, and maybe Netflix. Unless I'm saving a ton of money by not needing a cable subscription then this is pointless.
Let be clear this is a gaming console not a multimedia box
