The lights are on
As part of Obsidian's Kickstarter updates for the highly successful Project Eternity campaign, the company is showing off its sophisticated engine technology to the world.
In the video below you'll notice impressive dynamic water and lighting effects “running on a totally normal, run-of-the-mill PC,” according to the video. How do they accomplish this? Despite the 3D look, the backdrop is entirely 2D.
Give the video a look and let us know what you think.

Sweet. Kickstarter just might've come up with another gem.
Can't wait to see the mods on this. Maybe even make them!
Between this, Wasteland 2, and Shadowrun Returns, I am so excited.
They're doing a great job with this 2D style, which is my fav by the way.
This reminds me of Castlevanina 3D. That game doesn't have light backgrounds but it does nearly the same thing.
I'm looking forward to seeing more of this! What beautiful artwork and design.
It looks beautiful.
Can't wait until I get my copy :)
Impressive art direction. I can't wait to see, what this game will look and play like when it's done.
This is great. This reduces the work your computer has to do while maintaining awesome graphic quality. Yes, a million times yes.
