The lights are on
While rumors about the "features" of Microsoft's next generation hardware seem to be converging around one or two ideas (including a required internet connection at all times), the date at which we'll know for certain is a moving target. Last rumored to be taking place at the end of this month, the latest suspected timeframe for the announcement is at the end of May. The date was first stated by tech blogger Paul Thurott and echoed by The Verge.
If the May 21 date that Thurott and The Verge are standing behind is true, then the announcement will come only three weeks before Microsoft's E3 press conference. It also gives Sony a full three months to build hype for the PlayStation 4, which they've been taking advantage of quite well. We reached out for comment, but received the following (expected) response from a Microsoft spokesperson, "Microsoft does not comment on rumors or speculation."

Maybe they realized how bad of an idea it was to have always on DRM based off of how ABSOLUTELY NO ONE wants that and now they are panicking and pushing dates back to get rid of it. Regardless though, I'm getting a PS4. I've been with Sony since PS2 and have no intentions of getting an Xbox
This is gonna be interesting.
I think they should just wait until E3... i mean seriously... it's already been this long... another month won't matter.
I want it to be announced ASAP
They should just reveal it already I mean CMON. With all the bad rep theyre getting with these rumors they should just get it over with and put the rumors to the torch
If that's true, then hopefully they'll reveal a whole lot of info. . .
Man, Microsoft is really screwing up right now, the LAST thing you want to do when some controversial rumor comes out is delay talking about it, makes people believe the rumor no matter what. They need to pick it up, or just wow us when they reveal it, or else they are gonna lose a large portion of their base
Seems weird to announce it three weeks before E3? At that point why not just wait to announce it at E3?
This is your chance, Microsoft... Redeem yourself and unleash something awesome. I don't wanna see you fail.
I've been an ardent supporter of the Xbox 360 for about 5 years (I didn't get in at the beginning of the console generation), but Microsoft is really going to have to wow me if they want me to buy their next-gen console over the PS4. With the advances that PSN has made and is continuing to make, Xbox Live just isn't a good enough reason to choose Microsoft over Sony anymore.
I don't see the logic in having a conference so close to E3 in addition to letting Sony have all this time to build hype for the PS4. Gamers are turning on Microsoft based upon all these negative rumors about their next console and I would think they would want to address them before people become too attached to the idea of switching to a PlayStation. Then again the rumors could be true and in that case they are screwed anyways.
