The lights are on
Defiance, the shooter MMO/SyFy television show hybrid released recently, and it has had some issues out of the gate, most notably the Xbox 360 version of the game. Nathan Richardsson, Defiance's executive producer has posted a message to let everyone know that they are aware of the issues, and are working to get everything working properly.
The team's first priority is getting the Xbox 360 version working. This is version that is suffering the most issues. There is a patch planned for the game on April 15, with another in the works for approximately two weeks later. The team is also hard at work with assorted server experiments to get the game to stop its game-breaking lagging.
Richardsson also talked about the game's planned DLC. There are five planned DLCs for the year which will have free and paid tiers.
"We do not want to segregate our playerbase so we always want everybody be able to participate and play with friends. The free part is features and content, the paid part is essentially, say, access to a new playable species with a bundle of stuff with it. The upcoming TV tie-ins aren’t DLCs that cost either. It’s all yours."
You can head to Defiance's community pages to see the full message from Richardsson.

For the PC i had connection issues on Tuesday evening and on and off on Wednesday. The rest of the week and weekend have been fine. I think Trion making this for all platforms was a mistake. That is a lot of code across to look at and fix based on which system is having the most problems.
For those who are new to Trion games, they do good work so when the patch does come it will take care of stuff.
The more time I get with Defiance, the more I like it....money well spent!
I think it's going to be a lengthy review process, I don't think it's up yet.
I feel bad that Defiance is having so many issues. The beta was fun. I'm glad they are trying to fix these issues as fast as possible.
Love this game. I play it on PC and haven't experienced any major issues.
Okay, okay. Just hurry up and fix these problems.
Hmmm, wasn't gonna buy this game anyways.
I love this game and it can only get better with time. Excited to see that new species will be added as playable characters.
Anybody seem to be having problems talking to friends on the ps3 because I most of the time hear my friend but they can't hear me or its the other way around.
I think the game is selling well on all platforms but in particular on the the 360 and PS3. The 360 desperately needed a game like this and with its success it bodes well for future endeavors. Please let your friends know that it is a good game and worth supporting.
I play on the PC and any lag is negligible. The real probs are game imbalance, sound (guns sound and feel like toys) side quests are annoying and unimaginative. Compared with whats out there its pretty meh! It's something to do when I get tired of playing other things.
They've been really good at being candid with the fans about what's going on. It's nice to see and it turns hurt that the game is really fun either.
I've been watching Defiance, it looks like once the game is more stable it might be worth picking up. I went with BioShock Infinite over this, which won't last as long, but that's fine since I do have a decent sized backlog. By the way, in case you haven't heard enough yet, Infinite is a very good game. I wouldn't say it is worthy of a 10, few games are, but it is probably in the 9-9.5 range so far, and I think I'm definitely past the halfway point.
I have the PC verison and the launch was smooth for the most part just some server Issue's and quest Issue's. other than that the game is so much fun. Money well spent or should I say my husbands money well spent consiering he brought it for me. I have seen other games with a lot of major issues Sim City being one of them its not an MMO but it did have issues tons of them WOW being another and some of the others like GW2 and SWTOR at least Trion worlds is fixing the issues and patching the game great game all around def worth the money.:)
Not sure about on consoles because I would never play a MMO on one, but I love this game it is a blast. Had a few D/C but not to bad for being launch week.
An MMO has launch issues?
