Tim Schafer Waxes Poetic On LucasArts, Dumpster Diving

by Mike Futter on Apr 03, 2013 at 12:42 PM

Following the warm thoughts offered by Monkey Island creator Ron Gilbert, Tim Schafer has passed along a note to Game Informer about today's LucasArts layoffs. While most recently known for bringing video games and Kickstarter together, Schafer's storied career includes the Monkey Island series, Day of the Tentacle, the Maniac Mansion sequel, the wonderful biker gang adventure Full Throttle, and of course, Grim Fandango.

“Even though part of me felt this was coming, I’m still, somehow, shocked. I never thought that Lucas would actually shut down. I feel badly for all the talented people there," Schafer told us. "LucasArts was my first job in the industry. And I'm sad to see all that history go away. And all that concept art. I’m going to be dumpster diving behind their offices for a while to see if I can find any old Full Throttle concept art.”

If you happen to have any Full Throttle art, please send it over to Tim at Double Fine so he doesn't have to dig through the trash.
