Shin Megami Tensei IV Gets U.S. Release Date

by Matthew Kato on Apr 02, 2013 at 04:44 AM

Fans have been waiting a while for Shin Megami Tensei IV, and they'll have to wait just a little bit longer for the game's North American release.

Atlus has announced that the game will hit stores here on an undisclosed day this summer for the 3DS handheld. The game is currently scheduled to come out in Japan on May 23.

Atlus says that SMT IV is the "first true successor" to Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne, which released in 2004 for the PS2. Shin Megami Tensei IV features over 400 demons which you'll recruit and fuse together, as well as a choice-filled story path and the Press Turn combat system. This mechanic awards you an extra turn for finding out an enemy's weakness or conversely gives one to your opponent if you attack recklessly.

The game's story revolves around your role as a samurai trying to defend the kingdom of Mikado against invading demons.
