The lights are on
News broke earlier today that Deadpool developer High Moon Studios has laid off approximately 40 staff members. This unfortunate news comes in concert with notice that the title starring the "Merc with a mouth" has been completed. Game Informer reached out to Activision and received this statement from a company representative:
“Activision Publishing consistently works to align its costs with its revenues – this is an ongoing process. With the completion of development on Deadpool, we are taking a reduction in staff at High Moon Studios to better align our development talent against our slate. Approximately 40 full-time employees will be impacted globally. We are offering those employees who are impacted outplacement counseling services.”
Deadpool is slated for a summer 2013 release. Our thoughts are with those affected.

This reminds me of Visceral Montreal's closing.
That's too bad that they didn't even get to pull the last long haul on finishing their game. Hope that both them and the game itself aren't too badly hurt by this.
Wow, sounds pretty bad. I've been looking forward to Deadpool and I enjoyed the last Transformers, so I wish them the best.
Activision strikes again! Mega publishers suck. Why don't they fire leadership for not being able to plan projects for these employees to work on.
Layoffs always suck. And High Moon is a pretty good studio.
Sad to hear, especially in times like these. On the bright side, they've got good résumé material due to the success of Transformers and (hopefully) this upcoming Deadpool game.
I hope those outplacement counseling services actually gets them a job, instead of just being seminars of Power Point presentations.
A real shame. Fall of Cybertron was awesome. But, unfortunately, any Activision studio outside of Blizzard, Infinity Ward/Slegehammer, and Treyarch, seems to be subject to layoffs or closings just because their games don't have COD numbers. If this gets worse, I don't want to see the Activision logo on High Moon's next game.
that's not good i like high moon's transformer games
