Layoffs At Deadpool Developer High Moon Studios
News broke earlier today that Deadpool developer High Moon Studios has laid off approximately 40 staff members. This unfortunate news comes in concert with notice that the title starring the "Merc with a mouth" has been completed. Game Informer reached out to Activision and received this statement from a company representative:
“Activision Publishing consistently works to align its costs with its revenues – this is an ongoing process. With the completion of development on Deadpool, we are taking a reduction in staff at High Moon Studios to better align our development talent against our slate. Approximately 40 full-time employees will be impacted globally. We are offering those employees who are impacted outplacement counseling services.”
Deadpool is slated for a summer 2013 release. Our thoughts are with those affected.
