The lights are on
Iconic Metal Gear Solid voice actor David Hayter opened up yesterday about his absence from the Metal Gear Solid V trailer shown at last week’s Game Developers Conference. In a lengthy Twitlonger post, the gravely throated Hayter detailed the series of events that led to his omission from the Fox Engine-powered title. Unfortunately, the details are sparse.
“So, I got in touch with someone involved in the production. We got together for lunch, and he told me that they 'wouldn’t be needing me' on this game. No reason, or explanation was given beyond that. And that was it,” Hayter stated.
This latest communication comes after Hayter asked his Twitter followers last month what they thought about someone else playing the role of Snake in a Metal Gear game. Franchise followers saw their worst fears realized shortly after series creator Hideo Kojima’s presentation in San Francisco last week, when the iconic voice actor tweeted, “At least I had a good run.”
The evidence seems concrete, but given Kojima’s flair for misdirection and subterfuge, it would be foolish to close the book on Hayter’s involvement. If Metal Gear Solid V stars Big Boss, Hayter wouldn’t technically be playing Snake. On the other hand, Big Boss was voiced by Richard Doyle in Metal Gear Solid 4. There is enough reason to hold out hope that Hayter is just playing his part in Kojima’s next prank.

i think they will use hayter again for the next title, or at the end of metal gear solid 5 when the screen goes black, to announce the next metal gear solid game which will be a remake of metal gear for nes and msx.
No more "War has chaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaged"
He's hardly snake if he doesn't have that ridiculously raspy voice.
Kojima, you better be pranking. -__-
I personally think that he will be in Ground Zeroes. The Japanese voice actor is the same, you can hear it in the original Ground Zeroes trailer, so why wouldn't Hayter be back for GZ?
None of this makes any sense. I think Big Boss and Solid Snake should have had different voice actors right away in MGS3. Anyway, why is Akio Ostuka confirmed in JP and not Hayter in the U.S.? And why trick american fans and not Japanese fans (although I think the MGS series is more popular in the states)? We know (most likely) that BB and SS are both going to be in this game, and it makes sense that they would need different voices but it really seems like Hayter is out completey. All I know is that it better not be because Hayter wants more money.
