Rumor: David Hayter Not Voicing Snake In Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

by Kyle Hilliard on Mar 27, 2013 at 10:30 AM

Snake didn't say much in the new trailer for Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, but a recent Tweet from David Hayter may confirm why he sounded a little bit different.

David Hayter has been voicing Solid Snake since 1998. Hayter hinted earlier this month that he may not be reprising his role, and a Tweet from earlier today seems to confirm his lack of involvement. He doesn't actually call out Metal Gear Solid, but shortly after the trailer for the new game appeared online Hayter said, "Well look, at least I had a good run." Someone then asked Hayter if he had even been asked, to which he replied a simple, "Nope."

This doesn't actually confirm that Snake will have a new voice in The Phantom Pain, but it seems like pretty (Metal Gear) solid evidence.

All of this being said though, you never know with those Metal Gear people. This could all be a ruse.
