Madden 25 Working On New NFL Rules
The NFL recently passed some new rules that go in effect in the upcoming season, and Madden series developer EA Tiburon says it is trying to accommodate them in Madden NFL 25.
The new crown rule, which states that players are not allowed to put their heads down and strike others with the top of their helmet outside of the tackle box, is a controversial one in real life, and it should be interesting to see how Madden NFL 25 implements it.
A spokesperson for EA Sports told us that developer EA Tiburon expects to implement all the new rules in the game (see below for more) – especially the crown rule – and that they are reflected accurately. Given how contact violations like pass interference are often nonexistent in the game, it will be interesting to see how the crown-of-helmet rule surfaces during gameplay. We also wonder if it's on a slider for those fans who want to turn it off.
The NFL also abolished the Tom Brady tuck rule, which could tweak how Madden 25 and other titles in the franchise read fumbles versus incomplete passes.
Finally, specific rules regarding the use of replays for coach's challenges was adopted by the league.
Madden NFL 25 comes out for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on August 27.
