The lights are on
The website Siliconera is reporting that Square Enix has
made a filing for new Tomb Raider trademark in the U.S.
According to the report, Square Enix Europe filed a
trademark for the title "Tomb Raider: Reflection" with the U.S. Patent and
Trademark Office. It is unknown what the nature of this filing is. It's
possible that this could be an entirely new Tomb Raider sequel, or just a DLC
pack. However, as we previously reported, Crystal Dynamics has said that it has
no plans to release single-player DLC for Tomb Raider, and all future DLC would
be multiplayer focused - which seems to suggest that Tomb Raider: Reflections
could be a brand-new Tomb Raider game.
However, as always, it's important to point out that
trademark filings are not always indicative that a game is currently under

Maybe an XBLA/PSN game?
First of all, the trademarked name was Lara Croft Reflections, Helgeson, not Tomb Raider: www.siliconera.com/.../what-is-lara-croft-reflections
Why is that important? Because "Lara Croft" denotes a smaller, cheaper, more experimental downloadable game - a la "Lara Croft & the Guardian of Light". Whereas any game bearing the name, "Tomb Raider" is a mainline entry in the franchise. It's kind of an important distinction, yo. Unless you ignored Guardian of Light and everything Crystal Dynamics said about that game and the franchise after Tomb Raider: Underworld. You're not one of those posers who only cares about Tomb Raider now that it's a generic and joyless third person, vaguely stealthy, cover based shooter with QTE's, right? Like, oh, about 99% of the frickin' gaming "journalist" world.
Correct the typo, brother.
There's no way this is a new game. Not a full one anyone, maybe a mobile entry. I'm going to bet it's some other form of media, though. Sounds like it good be a comic.
Well it was reported that a new Hitman game was being developed a week after Absolution was released and that apparently Square wanted to release Hitman games on a shorter schedule 1 or 2 years apart and that they were going to be developed by another team that's not IO, they even released an art piece apparently and 47 wouldn't be involved in the story, so you never know...
Hopefully it's not a new game, I don't want CD to milk the franchise now that they just had a fresh start, the last thing I want is another reboot for TR, 2 reboots is enough.
Fingers crossed for SP DLC.
just did a little research on ancient gods this could refer to and the Aztec god Tezcatlipoca seems to fit the best. of course this is just based on the title.
A Tomb Raider game for the Vita would be sick. (A good kind of sick:)
Yeah, probably a hand-held or just another DLC package.
I'm thinking it might be a Vita game.
I can hardly complain about more Tomb Raider, especially if it fixes the semi-poor multiplayer showing.
