The lights are on
2K Games and Gearbox have announced a partnership with the Academy of Art called the Borderlands Cooperative which will lead to the creation of an animated Borderlands short film.
Students at the Academy of Art are tasked with creating teams to write Borderlands short stories, which will then be submitted as storyboards to Gearbox. Which ever story the Academy of Art, 2K Games, and Gearbox judges pick will be made into a short film by the school's animation students. The winning team will also get a chance to interview for an internship with Gearbox.
The animated short film should be completed by the end of this year.

The world needs more Borderlands. I approve.
Good news, BL never gets old
This is going to be, amazing.
I already know I'm going to die laughing when I watch this.
That is freaking awesome. Touche Gearbox.
great idea, but the writing should be done by the original writers
A chance to interview for an internship? Easy there gearbox don't be so generous...
After the fiasco that was Aliens:Colonial Marines, screw you Gearbox.
Great idea. This is going to be spectacular!
GearBox just can't help but profit off of other peoples ideas, huh?
I.....might watch it.
WAIT WAIT WAIT WAIT WAIT..... Wasn't Borderlands ALREADY based on an animated short film? Not only that, didn't Gearbox steal a bunch of the same look/camera angles of said film for their in game cutscenes? What the hell was the name of that short film?
Ahh haa!!! To continue my post from above, Gearbox ripped off a shortfilm called Codehunters. Check it out for yourselves, even the "radically changed artstyle" seems to come straight from Codehunters:
I'd watch it.
