Weekend Warrior 03/15/13

by Louis Garcia on Mar 15, 2013 at 02:00 PM

It’s the weekend again, and that means it’s time to unwind. Some editors will finally take a stab at the new Tomb Raider game. Others are going back in time to play some Super Nintendo greats, and a Dragon Ball Z role-playing game.

Jason Pfitzer: This weekend I will be trying my utmost to beat The Lion King for SNES. That, and I'm starting Chrono Trigger finally.

Ben Hanson: This weekend I'm going to continue playing Starcraft 2: Heart of the Swarm. The mission design remains fantastic and, despite dopey writing, I'm curious to see where the story goes. Other than that, I just checked out Dragon Ball Z: Attack of the Saiyans from our game vault. It's the DS RPG from Monolith Soft that I never finished. I’m looking forward to starting over and finishing it; the game feels like a great DBZ RPG for the SNES. Acronym. Have a good weekend!

Tim Turi: This weekend I’m putting aside my recent quests in Dead Space 3 and Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance for Tomb Raider. I’m oddly fascinated by protagonists that get the crap kicked out of them but persevere (e.g. Die Hard, Die Hard 2, Die Hard with a Vengeance, Live free or Die Hard). I’m really digging the interesting environmental puzzles and experimentation-friendly combat.

Jeff Marchiafava: The Humble Bundle folks managed to get me to buy another mix of awesome indie games, so this weekend I’ll probably be playing more PC games. For someone who doesn’t own a decent gaming PC, I now have over 30 games on my Steam account. I’m ready to buy a Steam Box whenever you want to start selling them, Valve…

Louis Garcia: I am still recovering from illness, but I may be able to remain somewhat awake long enough to play some FIFA online. I’m sick of crushing defeats, but I’m in the soccer mood after missing so many pick-up games because of my virus, and watching a Minnesota United FC preseason match this week, as well as Champions League matches. I’m also going to be visualizing monster-smiting strategies in my head before Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate comes out for the Wii U next week. I bought my console the other week (getting a great deal I might add) just for this game.

Kyle Hilliard: All I’ve been wanting to do since I’ve started it, is play Tomb Raider. As a fan of the show Lost, platforming, and environmental physics puzzles, I just want to keep jumping back in. It’s the kind of game that has been forcing me to stay up past my bedtime. This weekend, I plan on playing as much as I can. Also, I guess I should hang some curtains in our new home, but that’s secondary!
