The lights are on
Developer Rebellion’s sniper video game series will continue the story of elite OSS sniper Karl Fairburne’s World War II escapades – and judging by the logo, the new game will take place in Africa.
“Sniper Elite V2 was just the beginning of what we want to do with the franchise; there are things we didn’t have time to do before that we can really look at featuring this time," says Jason Kingsley, CEO of Rebellion. “We want to focus on making this latest incarnation of Sniper Elite more of a sandbox game and also build on the awesome X-Ray Kill Cam and the atmospheric World War II setting. We’re looking forward to seeing what Sniper Elite fans and gamers in general make of the latest chapter in the story.”
The title is set to release in 2014 for current and next-gen platforms, as well as PC. Our reviewer generally liked the last iteration of the series.

This is actually pretty cool, any next gen games being announced now make me happy, as the sooner they're announced the more likely to be launch.
Any next gen game announcement sounds good great to me.
Good news for a great franchise. I just hope this sequel does return to the more open world missions of the original title. But glad they're continuing the series nonetheless.
Played a little bit of the 2nd one recently, and it's actually pretty good.
Sounds good to me.
Good news. Liked the 2nd, hopefully this is even better.
I feel like an open-world setting would serve this series really well. If next-gen technology can really expand the depth and AI of open worlds the way it's been hinted, even better.
Niceee.
That sounds great! This might be enough to sell me on next gen consoles!!!
Loved 2, will deff get 3.
Can't wait! Loved the demo but didn't get II because of reviews.
Awesome, can't wait!
Excited for this one!
Please don't be in Europe. Africa can be such a better atmosphere, effectively rejuvenating the franchise. Super psyched about a "sand"box
